Castillo just wasn't good for us. He didn't show this Power consistency. I'd rather have Montero + Contreras is the C of the future. So no.

and with Soler I'd wait till the weather heats up. Though it's good insurance to have with La Stella and Baez if he doesn't heat up.

You're right...once Castillo hit AZ something clicked.

I am not sullen about Montero or Contreras, btw.

Soler, tho...I want him to succeed, but (as has been said before) he sure looks older than suggested.

Is this a more preferable offensive version of Javy Baez? The average is up, but with very little power.

I know it's a small sample size, but I'm just curious what y'all think of his play so far this season.

Defensive play: bonkers. Tonight was insane.
Offensive play: not worried in the slightest*

          * this lineup is crazy good, and they've proved that so far this year. If Javy hits for power with an average we'd expect out of him, cool. If he hits for contact with less power, also cool. The pressure is at the top of the lineup, and as long as those guys are producing I'll take any kind of offense from Baez (as long as there's one aspect he's excelling in). But.. If I had to pick one I'd say my preferable option is the huge power Javy. Him getting ahold of a ball is a beautiful thing to watch.

I just want the team to stay grounded. It really seemed like the team and the fanbase went way too bonkers after eliminating the Cardinals last year.

still crossing my fingers with Soler.

It's official, this Cubs team might not only be the best Cubs team I've seen in my lifetime, but also the best team for any franchise.

And if it all comes crashing down at some point, you can all blame me for jinxing it.

Time to move Heyward down to 7th in the order.

Russell and Baez have earned a look at 2, Zobrist would be fine, Scissor when he returns, LaStella when he starts...

I mean, who wouldn't like to see what Russell or Baez could do with Rizzo behind them?

Edit: I hope that the only reason Soler is still starting is 1) there's a doubleheader and.or 2) Injury issues to others.

I take full responsibility for losing both games of the double header.

Hope Theo is scouring the market for bullpen arms. Our juggernaut is showing a bit of a weakness there lately when guys like Alex Dickerson and Brett Wallace are hitting clutch homers against you.

Speaking of said bullpen arms, Cubs sign old man Joe Nathan and place on 60-day DL. Hoping for a few key postseason innings and nothing more.

These kind of skids are fine, as long as they are few and short in duration.

Need to turn it around soon. Pitching has been fine by and large, good enough to win, save for Lester's start. Offense has to put up some runs; couple people need to start turning it around.

Yeah, I was getting a little jittery after us sucking lately, but then I read that we've fallen from a 130-win pace to only a 109-win pace. Nice to have some early cushion, but let's try not to give it all back by the ASG.

He's the worst hitter on the team right now, including Ross.
