I might be the only one but after watching Mo blow an ACL in fielding practice I hold my breath on average about 3 times every game watching Lawrie do something crazy like dive head first into the stands. I love the passion he plays with because it is infectious and he truly loves the game but he needs to be careful.

What's the general consensus on the Vladdy minor league contract?
My first impression was: SWEET! then my mind immediately went to "this has to be a first move towards some kind of trade soon."
Looks like my thought process may have some legitimacy as there's a report from Ken Rosenthal that AA is inquiring about Cole Hamels and Shane Victorino. I'm not so hot on Victorino but I think Hamels would be a good fit in the Jays rotation or to be flipped over in some deal.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I love the passion Lawrie plays with but I hate when he loses his cool, both diving for balls into the stands and throwing things at umps.
That fan throwing the drink is an idiot.Comment

Re: Toronto Blue Jays 2012
Wow how surprising is this? Adam Lind has been sent down to Vegas! You know, I kinda have the feeling that Lind won't be with the team next year and Travis D'arnaud will be on the big club full time either as a 1B or catcher and JP Arencibia becomes a 1B.
Either way, from what I hear from scouts they're comparing D'arnaud to Russell Martin in his Dodger days and saying he should be in the majors.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Looking forward to seeing D'Arnaud with the Jays. Arencibia either stays behind the plate or is dealt. His bat isn't big enough to play 1B on a regular basis.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Ive heard Travis defense is a bit shaky. There's no rush. JP has been great since the Kansas City series

Not very. Lind was the worst full-time 1B/DH in the AL in 2010 and 2011. His bat might play better in the NL, particularly if he's platooned.

Either way, seems like things are in flux right now in Blue Jay Land. Also, Lawrie rescinded his appeal today so he can miss the Mets series and be back for the TB series afterwards.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Toronto Blue Jays 2012
Lind tore it up in 2009, what happened, besides getting paid?
He is even struggling at 1B, already has more errors this year than all of last.Comment

Re: Toronto Blue Jays 2012
Glad to see Lind's days with the Jays are probably over. Nothing against him personally, but as a hitter he has mostly been a hole in the lineup for a solid part of three seasons.
I hope the Jays can finally get some momentum going after NYY, but I'm wary. It looks like they've changed their approach at the plate a bit/early season timing issues are coming around, and I'm happy to see Farrell shuffling the lineup around instead of letting it come around on its own. The Colby Rasmus project looks good at times, but not right now.
I'm really hoping for two out of three against the Mets with the type of starting pitching they're sending to the hill. If the bats go cold against Miguel freaking Bautista tonight I will cry.Comment

Re: Toronto Blue Jays 2012
Another thing i'm glad to see Farrell doing is giving Rajai Davis more playing time. Last night he made two spectacular defensive plays that I don't think Eric Thames could've even come close to doing so even if his bat isn't the greatest he's a defensive upgrade. Of course, this doesn't mean Thames is a bench player but he'll be used more in situations where he can succeed.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Toronto Blue Jays 2012
Sad to see Lind be put on waivers. They were talking about the Jays' core players from a few years ago and how every one of them flamed out. Lind, Hill, Wells, and Rios. They were all JP guys with the exception of Wells. There were other guys that Ricciardi had a man crush on that went down the tubes like Eric Hinske and of course the numerous older guys he brought in with big money contracts that didn't pan out.
It's interesting how just about every major player brought up in the Ricciardi regime save for Romero, Arencibia and the slew of young arms that came in the latter period of his regime. Other than Arencibia all the position players were crap who never lived up to expectations.
I just thought that was worth mentioning.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Toronto Blue Jays 2012
Very true about Ricciardi's position players. It really is remarkable how substantially those guys declined over such a short period. You would think one of them could at least maintain their top end production.
Hope a sweep happens tomorrow. The schedule coming up is a bit of a murder's row—@ Tampa, @ Texas, and the Jay slaying Orioles.Comment
