Minor is a bum. One good start inbetween all his bad starts isn't going to cut it. Time to call up Teheran. We also need to make a trade for another starting pitcher. I don't have a whole lot of confidence in Delgado or Jurrjens either. Neither one of them has shown the consistency that we need at the back end of the rotation.

They'd be idiots to not give Jair a shot, especially after the way he dominated Boston. He was your best starter last year, I think you have to hope he's found it again before replacing him. And Delgado has been fine. Back of the rotation guys are normally inconsistent, otherwise they'd be front of the rotation guys.

I like the move of Prado to the 3 spot. He's a more prototypical #2 hitter I think, but right now he's the best guy for that role.

Really disagree with leaving McCann high in the lineup. He hasn't performed all year and we're almost to the all-star break. We're almost to the point last year where Uggla broke out of his slump. I hope that happens with Mac, but until it does he doesn't need to be hitting cleanup.

This is probably a bit premature, but I'm really worried about this team going forward. Bourn is probably gone, Chipper is gone, Minor is a bust, JJ is probably gone whether he rights the ship or not, jury is still out on Delgado and Teahran, Beachy will miss the first half of the year, and Mac isn't getting any younger. I almost think it may be a situation where we have to seriously look at maybe trading guys like Bourn to for some good young guys to compete later on. Hopefully I'm just being dramatic though.

You are being dramatic. This is a team that is in second place, 3.5 behind a very young team. They're also currently tied for the second wild card spot. There isn't a single team in the NL that doesn't have serious concerns.

As far as the future, it's not like it's bleak. Heyward and Freeman are the cornerstones of the offense. Uggla and Prado are playing well. Mac is struggling, but with his track record, he'll be fine, longterm. Simmons looks really good. So for next year's lineup, that means they have to fill CF (and they'll be in on Bourn), and either LF or 3B.

The jury isn't still out on Delgado. He's pretty good. After a rough start in April, he has a 3.88 era in May and June, even after the tough outing in Boston. There's no reason to think Teheran won't be good either. He had a bad 5th his last time out, but the first four innings were amazing. He just needs to learn to keep that going. I think Minor should be sent down, but not given up on. Plus there's Gilmartin. And Bethancourt. And Salcedo and Terdoslavich. There's a ton of young talent in the origization.

Missing Beachy for the first half of next year will hurt. The Braves may need to get another pitcher to ease that. But this is a team that will have some money next offseason. So if they can't keep Bourn, they can get an Upton and use the savings on other needs too. There's no more Derek Lowe $15m or Chipper Jones $13m on the books.

Love the Ben Sheets signing. Very low risk, extremely high reward. From Wren's comments, his bullpen session on Sunday was impressive.

This isn't 2004...I expect nothing from Sheets.

I can't expect anything either. Literally ANYTHING he gives us, even at the minor league level, is a plus.

I can't believe they put two guys in the final vote. I'm voting for Chipper, I guess. Bourn should be already in. He's the best leadoff hitter in the nl.

I'll gladly sacrifice Bourn to get Chipper in. I'm usually a merit guy and obviously Bourn has earned it this year while Chipper has not, but dammit...I'm entitled to feel this way.

Chipper deserves the sendoff. Bottom line.

For a guy in the last year of his deal? Maybe Minor and/or Pastornicky and some bodies to fill the deal out. Nothing special. If he agrees to an extension, then I don't think anybody not currently on the big league roster would be untouchable. He's an elite pitcher.

Don't have to anymore, now let's vote and get Bourn in too!
