Are you sure Mel Stottlymre is that good?
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

he hit 41 or more in Japan only 3 times in 10 years, in a place where the pitchers arent as good and the stadiums are akin to our minor league stadiums.

As a Red Sox fan I hate him, but as a fan of MLB, I think he is one of the better hitters in the league. Sure hes not Ichiro, but he gets the job done. That said, his 31 last year was a career year type of thing. I have no argument with the RBIS or Average, but 41 is not going to happen. Expect closer to the 25 range.

Stottlemyre is still there. After last season he talked about retiring (He's said that for about the last 3 seasons) but he said he'll come back and coach for one more season.

I wouldnt be surprised if Matsui puts up those types of numbers. I dont care what he did in Japan. This guy is here, now, and he should be tearing the cover off the ball, barring injury of course.

We'll see what happens. I'm a Braves fan (in case you guys didnt know) but my brother is a HUGE Yankee fan, so I'm always up to date on Yankee ongoings.

explain how what he did in Japan has no bearing on here.

its a completley different game. His lowest HR total there was higher than last years total(if you dont count his rookie and development year). If someone like Pujols were to go there, he would knock 85 out of the park with ease.

im not making it up because of hatred for the yankees. Look it up. its all over the internet and newspapers.

From reports ive heard is that he doesnt get involved with pitchers mechanics because the ones hes gotten have been "primadonnas" and dont feel they need help. This has caused a regression in his skills for helping the players.

Look at Weaver 2 years ago. He went right back to being a decent pitcher(granted it was a pitchers park in the NL) in one offseason. Look at Vasquez last year. The entire league notcied a problem in his mechanice, but nothing was done to fix them over the course of a half-season.

Dont be surprised if Vasquez ends up in the Top 5 in the NL CY Young voting this year. The pitching coach from the D-Backs is very hands on
