Just like Jets said....why do you let Leiber go, just to get him? Doesn't make sense.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Originally posted by camulosEspecially since Lieber at least had multiple succesful seasons over his career. Other than last year, Jaret Wright has in no way shown that he can be effective as a ML pitcher. And considering he spent last year with the Braves I think it was quite obvious that it was the exception rather than the norm. Maybe it was part of the Yankees' efforts to get younger?

Kinda hard when you don't have a farm system at all anymore. Plus over half your roster is in decline.President of the Devils Den

Re: Official New York Yankees Bleacher Creatures Team Thread
The Yanks won't have problems getting younger pitchers in the off-season. All they have to do is sign FA's and then trade them one year later like they did with Vasquez (except the other guy coming back is really old) and pick up a part of his salary.
The Yanks do have 2 prospects (Cano and Duncan) that other teams would find attractive.
I expect Cashman to go after Burnett after this season is over. And if Burnett values money and winning, then he knows where to sign.Comment

Re: Official New York Yankees Bleacher Creatures Team Thread
Originally posted by camulosWhich is exactly what makes watching the Yankees so amusing. They'll throw tons of money at a guy like Burnett who hasn't really demonstrated he can stay healthy. Don't get me wrong, I love Burnett but he only started 23 games over 2003 and 2004.
Yeah seriously. However, why would Burnett won't to leave a young and talented team. Not to mention one of if not the best rotation in baseball. For the aging Yanks *who very soon will come tumbling down for a few yrs(thanks to the aging roster and depleted farm system)*?President of the Devils Den
