Re: Official New York Yankees Bleacher Creatures Team Thread

    Let's see, for me:
1996- 1-0 Saw them beat the A's, don't really remember much about the game, just that O'Neil and Strawberry both made leaping catches at the wall.
1997- 2-0 Saw them beat the Indians once 3-2, and they killed the Orioles 10-2 I believe. Shocking, because it was Kenny Rogers vs. Mike Mussina
1998- 1-1 Got killed by the Red Sox 13-7 I believe, Andy Pettitte got rocked, and the Yankees gave up 11 runs in the 2nd inning. Then I saw them beat the Indians for their 110th win of the year.
1999- 0-1 Good duel between Pettitte and Pedro, but Pedro pitched amazing, 17 K's and a Chili Davis homerun was the only hit, and the Yankees lost 3-1
2000- 0-1 Red Sox killed the Yankees. I think Adrian Hernandez was pitching for the Yankees, and he got knocked around.
2002- 1-0 Yankees beat the Angels, Giambi hit a homerun

    So I'm 5-3 all time.

      Me - 0 times

However, me and my friend JD had a roadtrip planned, but somethings didn't work out and I ended up missing the game that Houston had the 6 pitcher no hitter vs the Yanks.

I went to one game last season when they got beat 9-1 or something by the Orioles.

I'll never forget my first ever game in 1996 when the Yanks beat the REDSOX... 8 to 6 or something... they were losing... and Paul O'neill hit a homer... and two batters later Cecil Fielder hit a homer

Tim Raines also had 2 homeruns that game!!!

O'neill's was an upper deck shot too.

Guys if you want to know why the Yanks have been down. look no further than me. My first trip to Yankee Stadium was in the 78 WS when Reggie hit his 3 homers after taking the 0fer the day before. I was unable to see them play live again until 96 in Texas. Did not see them live in 97 but saw them in 98-00 all in KC. Best part of that was on the Fri night game in 99 when all the KC fans left the game in the 3rd inning as a protest on the escalating salaries of baseball players. That was the last time I got to see them live. I will be going to the STL series this year so hopefully that will translate into another pinstripes WS victory.

Well Yanks beat Schilling and the Red Sox 5-2. Wright didn't look too impressive, but made the pitches when he had to. I think Schilling used up too much energy on the top of the order most of the time. Rivera gets the save, but his command still didn't look that great and he got to 3-1 on 2 batters in a row; however, it it still a step in the right direction.

So what do you guys think the lineup should be to get the ball rolling effectively? Torre's reported that he's still working on reorganizing the lineup until he can find one that hits a good groove. I say ...

                  1. Tony Womack
                  2. Derek Jeter
                  3. Alex Rodriguez
                  4. Gary Sheffield
                  5. Hideki Matsui
                  6. Jason Giambi
                  7. Jorge Posada
                  8. Tino Martinez/Ruben Sierra
                  9. Bernie Williams

Maybe put Posada in the 9 hole and Bernie at 6.

I wish I could choke the **** out of Tanyon. Seriously...I can't stand him STILL even though Gordon was the one to give up the 3 run blast.

A great game by Mussina wasted.

Just thought I would make an apperance. The last 7 years, O's fans have been at your mercy. Ever since Jeffrey Maier (yes, we remember him), times have been tough. But this year, times have changed.

You may make the play-offs, Yankees, oh yes. But it will NOT be on the backs of the Orioles. You will not use us as your doormat anymore.

Oh yeah, and our pitching is good this year. Just ask B.J. Ryan:

I don't think the Orioles have ever been considered our doormat... they've always had a pretty powerful lineup for the ;ast few years... and we usually don't take them lightly.

The position of Yankees' doormat belongs to no one else but the Tampa Bay Devil Rays,

Agreed. I caught first Pettite game of the Yankees-Orioles series in 1996 post-season (I think it was game 1) on YES the other day. The Orioles were friggin hard to put down then ...

                              The General Has Spoken:

"Enough is enough. I am bitterly disappointed as I'm sure all Yankee fans are by the lack of performance by our team,'' Steinbrenner said in a statement issued immediately after the game. "It is unbelievable to me that the highest-paid team in baseball would start the season in such a deep funk. They are not playing like true Yankees. They have the talent to win and they are not winning. I expect Joe Torre, his complete coaching staff and the team to turn this around.''

Hmm those comments lead me to believe that Torre may be fired if the Yanks don't turn things around. The Yanks would be making a huge mistake if they did that tho.
