Yea, because he was really impressive in the playoffs last year.

Actually, that sounds like a good idea. Anyone know his numbers against the Sox from last year?

Don't know exactly last year, but career vs current Red Sox players.

Hm .. comparing their numbers together, Gordon is actually putting up better stats.

                              Wednesday

                              (2-0) VS. (0-2)

                              Pitchers:

                              Tim Wakefield @ Mike Mussina

                              Key Players:

                              Boston Red Sox

                              Tim Wakefield = (VS. Yankees 2004) 1.83 ERA, 8 SO, .179 AVG, 1-0, 19.2 IP

                              New York Yankees

                              Hideki Matsui = .667 (6 for 9), 2 HR's, 5 RBI's, 4 Runs, 12 TB's

                              Key Concerns:

                              Boston Red Sox

                              Mark Bellhorn = 5 SO's, 5 LOB

                              New York Yankees

Mariano Rivera = 10 Blown Saves vs. Red Sox since 2001

                              ---------------------------------------------------------

                              My Prediction:

                              Red Sox: 6
                              Yankees: 5

The Yankees have always had problems winning against Tim Wakefield . He will have a good long game, before the Red Sox bring in Relief that will surrender to a couple runs scored. Unfortunately, the hole that Mussina got the Yankees into over a course of 5 innings, will be too much to overcome.

                              Player of the Game: Manny Ramirez (2 for 5, 1 2B, 3 RBI's)
                              SAN ANTONIO SPURS
