Its just silly drama. Something for the media to push.

Basically the meeting is just gonna say that the Yankees will incorporate Gene Michaels back into the equation. He's basically the man responsible for building the Yankee dynasty of the '90s. Cashman seems to get credit for some reason simply because he was there when they won, though Michaels laid most of the foundation.

I'd love to get him back, it seems that he can withstand some of the demands that Georgie makes and make some rational decisions (especially regarding the future), while Cashman seems to be his lil pawn.

Ya know, I bet everyone Yankee fan on earth knew this game was over the second Stanton came into the game.

          You're right.

          1 ****ing pitch...ball game.

Atleast the Red Sox blew their game, so that makes me feel a tad better.

Just wanted to add an interesting stat to ruin my and every Yankee fans' day even more:

Tony Womack is currently ranked 2nd to last of all major league position players in offense... proportional to the amount of AB's hes gotten (OBP, BA, SLG)

Yet this man is in the starting lineup for the 26 time champion New York Yankees.

I've always been the biggest Joe Torre supporter, but why the hell is this guy in the lineup? I could see if he was some unbelievable outfielder...but thats the thing... HES NOT AN OUTFIELDER. Why put him in the lineup? Your getting the same crappy defense from Bernie as we are from Womack... so we might as well get the better offense of the two.

I don't know. I think he's a perfect fit for the only team in baseball history to have blown a 3-0 playoff lead.

In the meantime, you should ask your owner why Womack is on the squad. Torre does what he's told and plays the guys that Steinbrenner moronically throws his massive revenue at while ignoring the concept of developing quality talent. If Torre benched Womack it would prove Steinbrenner to be the moron he truly is.

I just read the Mets are waiting for a formal offer from the Yankees for Mike Cameron

The deal is supposedly setup as Mike Cameron and Cairo for Gary Sheffield....

As a Red Sox fan....I like it lol

Hah, yeah right. There's no way the Yankees make that deal. It would be stupid on their part since they need a third outfielder and Sheffield is a much better hitter than Cameron.

I think Sheffield already said he'd retire if that deal went through.

That would be terrible. Cameron is a good player, but no where near the hitter Sheffield is. He'd improve the centerfield defense, but we'd still have no one for right. And while he's younger then Sheffield, he's still on the wrong side of 30. Cairo would just be a backup infielder.

No way, and Sheffield has said he'd make life miserable for any team that trades for him, so no one is going to take a chance on him.

No ground made on anyone but Baltimore if the Yanks win tonight, since the Sox and Jays won.

Just heard on WEEI that Quantrill and Stanton have been DFA'd. Stanton will be picked up by somebody. He's just a victim of bad managing IMO. He may have been able to handle righties earlier in his career, but at this point he's a LOOGY.

                            His splits this year:
vs Left: .176 BA, .479 OPS
vs Right: .478 BA, 1.432 OPS

Quantril should just retire, its clear he's lost it.

Yeah, I heard about this last night. I guess right after the game got called Joe called in Stanton and Quantrill and told them the news. I guess it was a pretty emotional scene in the clubhouse, and Mike and Paul packed up all their belongings and hit the road.

As for Stanton two nights ago, it was a case of bad managing because all Torre was concerned about was turning Roberts around because he hits .408 from the left side and only .206 from the right side. But when the pitcher you're bringing in has opposting righties hitting .478 against him, you're STILL at a disadvantage. Everyone was saying that Sturtz shoulda been brought it, the media was really giving it to Joe for that move.

I don't know what the hell we were thinking signing Stanton again anyway. He's not much better than Felix Heredia was last year. And the fact that he's there goto lefty reliever scared me since the winter.

Quantrill has just lost it totally IMO and apparently has had some injuries building up, mainly in his knee. I was so excited when we got him from the Dodgers two years ago cause I thought he would cure our bullpen problems but it wasn't meant to be.

Scott Proctor and Jason Anderson will be called up to take their places.
