What would the date be on the new stadium being ready?

Obviously, I've got to go to a game at Yankee Stadium before then.

Re: Official New York Yankees Bleacher Creatures Team Thread

This could be pretty nutty over the next 10 years for the stadiums in NY. It's been 36 years since NY has seen a new stadium, it'd be nice to get some of the state of the art stuff I've seen at other stadiums.

I'm not really that shook up over the Yanks getting a new stadium since they're going to leave the current one standing and not knock it down. I've seen close to a hundred games there and had my fill. And it's just a shell of the stadium that Ruth, Gehrig and DiMaggio once played on. I think it'll be awesome if they recreat the new one to look just like the original Yankee Stadium, with the white-fence facade thing going all across the top of the stadium.

Either way, I'm as excited for this as I am about the one in Manhattan.

EDIT: Eli, from what I've heard, guesses range from 2009-2011.

When I lived in NY, I'd hear him all the time... On WFAN, then you'd hear him on ESPN 1050 when they launched... I generally didn't listen to NY sports talk too much, so I'd listen to ESPN or Sporting News over the internet.... Then I'd hear him there, too... I'd be like "Can I just not hear this dude for a little while?!?" But I am sorry to hear he was going through serious health issues... I genuinely hope everything is all right with him.

Kinda reminds me of Doris from Rego Park, she was a regular caller on the sports shows. Anyhow, she had this really persistent cough, and I had to admit, it wore on me after awhile and got annoying. Sadly, she passed away a couple years ago, and they mentioned her on the radio and even in the newspaper. I felt like a complete tool for complaining to myself about her cough...

You can't win a ****ing game only getting 4 hits.

1 win in the last 9 games while playing the Royals, Brewers and Twins is un****ing acceptable. Once again, Johnson looked average at best. Atleast he got a few more strikeouts but thats expected against Milwaukee.

If the Yankees lose the series to the Brewers, I expect a move to be made for some kind of pitching within the next week.

Looking back, I wish the Yanks had made some kind of move to get Latroy Hawkins. That would have been quite an improvement for the relief pitching.

Maybe they should try moving arod back to the #2 slot to jumpstart that offense.. atleast he gets on base unlike matsui there.

The likely choice would be Wang but compared to Pavano, Brown, Mussina and RJ...he's looked golden.

You'd think Wright would be the odd man out with his 9.15 ERA and 2.29 WHIP. I still can't believe they signed him instead of resigning Lieber.

Can't make any moves when your system is barren. Wang and Cano are about the only young guys they could get a player of value with. That and not many teams are looking to deal at the moment.

Yea but we are about 60 games deep..now is when you see the "pretenders" drop out of races and look to move their ballplayers..hopefully the O's drop out of it cuz I don't think the Wildcard is coming from the AL East.....

There are going to be a lot of teams that think they're in it until midway through July. Really, only the Devil Rays, Rockies, Royals and A's come to mind as teams with no chance.

Four hits against a team like the Beermakers?

I just hang my head. I don't think I'm gonna bother watching the game tonight. This is getting beyond embarassing.

Maybe A-Rod should be moved back to the #2 slot in the lineup, but the problem is that Sheffield isn't gonna get much protection because Matsui is behind him and he's having a pretty ehhhh year at the plate. We have absolutely no one driving in any runs for us besides Matsui, A-Rod and Sheff. The bottom of the order is totally useless. Bernie, Womack, Giambi, Ruben, Cano, Tino, and whoever else gets thrown in there from time to time is helpless at the dish. We are putting everything in our top 5 batters (include Jeter and Posada to the big 3). If those guys go cold like they are now, we don't stand a chance of sniffing a W. We are not going to make the playoffs if we're only getting production from 5 outta 9 guys in the lineup.

BTW anyone know anything about this C.J. Henry kid that we drafted in the first round today? I've never followed the MLB draft before.

He was initially going to play basketball at Kansas but decided to enter the MLB draft.

As it has been projected for over a month now, the Yankees picked C.J. Henry 17th overall in the first round of the 2005 MLB Amateur draft. Henry, a shortstop, may eventually be moved to the outfield, but make no mistake, he is a five tool player. A right handed hitter, Henry is arguably one of the top athletes in the entire draft and the Yankees are more than thrilled to have him in the organization.

Off the field, you can't find a much better young man than C.J. Henry. Not only as far as scouts are concerned, but just for the everyday person, this 18 year old has a plus personality and makeup. He has handled himself in a mature manner leading up to the draft, making clear statements to scouts that his focus is on baseball and nowhere else. But, besides baseball, Henry does his part in the community off the diamond as well. The 18 year old participates in a Leadership Mentor Program, a program dedicated to helping the health and welfare of the community. So, as most scouts have already taken note of, C.J. Henry is not only a great investment for his baseball skills but for his superb personality traits as well.
