Are you friggin kidding me? This guy is already a legend, this is just phenomenal. Barry may hit more homers, A-Rod might hit for a better average, Ichiro might play a better defense, but this guy almost single-handedly wins game with just his bat. I got the oppritunity to see it personally last Tuesday, and it is other-worldly.

Has Papelbon earned this win or what??? The kid's making a serious case for a playoff roster spot tonight.

Oh well...I thought it was over after 5-0, so I didn't expect much.

Definately, he shows great compsure as well. If it comes down to a struggling Foulke and a lights-out Palpebon, I'll take Palpebon. Experience or not, Foulke has sucked it up and Palpebon has lit it up.

Regardless of what he did tonight, he was making the playoff roster. He throws 95 with command. You take him over most of the other flotsam available. Including Miller.

I have to get up early for work tomorrow, and as soon as Ortiz stepped to the plate in the 11th, I said to myself "If Ortiz doesn't hit a home run here, I'm going to sleep".

                      I'm still up.

                        I love Paps.

Tito should seriously consider him for the closer in 2006.

Papelbon will be fighting for a spot in the rotation, most likely, not the closer's job.

I think so too. You don't leave a pitcher with his talent in the bullpen, and you don't pay Foulke $6.5 mil/year to be a middle reliever.

I'm not ready to give up on Foulke either. I think he can get it back, since he's basically a command pitcher. I don't know if he can get it back this season, but I'd expect him to come into spring training ready to take back that closer's position for at least another season, with Hanson taking over either during the season (if Foulke goes down, kinda like how the Dotel-Street thing worked out in Oakland) or the following year.
