How is this guy NOT the MVP? There's no way. NONE. Don't even bring up Rodriguez. I don't care that Ortiz is a DH. You use the position argument when it's a close race. This isn't close. Ortiz is EASILY the most valuable player to his team.
What if by some chance the Sox don't make the playoffs? Is he still MVP?

        In my mind, no.

I thought this was an amazing stat:

Ortiz homered off Josh Towers (11-11), the 17th time he has tied a game or put the Red Sox ahead. Eight of those have come in the seventh inning or later.
Eight game-tying or go-ahead HR's in the 7th inning or later...17 all together...my god...MVP for this guy, no doubt.

              I think so too.

But if the Sox do make the playoffs.... anyone who follows baseball should have no problem naming him MVP. The only other guy I've seen change games like he does is Bonds.

Yup, some writers will all of a sudden decide decide they can't vote for Ortiz based on principals that a DH shouldn't be MVP and he'll get left off the ballot.

                    Me too.

It would take some GaloTorres type homerism to deny Ortiz greatness.

It looks like it stopped for the time being where I am, which is about 6 minutes from Boston. But if I had to give the odds on us playing tonight, I think we have a 60 percent chance of getting this game in. Maybe even worse for tomorrow night.

What was Chavez waiting for? That was clearly a strike.

What was Payton swinging at? That was Rick Ankiel type height on that pitch.

Nice inning by Schilling to get out of the 1st...could've been alot worse than 2-0.

                              *back to Yanks game*
