P2K, the X/SJU game was a great one. Constant back and forth. All about momentum today. X continues to amaze me as far as learning how to win close games. They used to choke in games like this but they've really played well in tight games since losing that Tennessee game. I was getting so ticked about X leaving Ferguson open from beyond the arc. Even after making three or four 3's, they still would leave him open long enough to get a good shot off. Even if X would have lost, I still would have come away feeling like it was a great basketball game. I still can't believe X was a 10-point favorite this morning. I should have bet a crap-load of money on The Joe. No way in my mind this would ever be a 10-point victory for X, if they won at all. The game in Philly on 3/6 should be a great one. Not feeling good about X's chances at their place but they'll be very battle-tested on the road by that point after having played Charlotte, Rhody, and Dayton before that game.

EDIT: Phil Martelli's quote about XU's Stanley Burrell...

LMAO @ that quote. Martelli is a jokester.

Tough, hard fought game. Too bad St. Joe's came out on the losing end, but Xavier is Xavier. The Joe just have to keep winning the rest of their league games.

Hey, Temple is doing good in the conference as well. Hopefully, they can keep it up and gain momentum for Fran Dunphy to get this program back on track.

Yes, they are. They have a big game in Philly on Wednesday (I think) against Rhody.

UMass needed that win, at least Rhode Island is keeping up their pace, if the season ended today I'd be surprised if more than 2 got at-large bids.

Good to see St. Joe's keeping up with X, if they hadn't dropped the Duquesne game they'd be in great shape, still looking pretty good.

I'm really starting to get nervous about UD's chances of making the tournament. Lousville upsetting Georgetown helped their RPI, at least. Chris Wright needs to come back very soon!

Without Wright they are basically the 2006-07 Flyers and they weren't all that great. Little is back but you really see Wright's value with him being gone. He really does need to come back soon.

              Wed. 2/13 scores...

              Duquesne-63, Dayton-61
              Temple-92, Rhody-89 (OT)
La Salle-87, NJIT-65 <---- Good OOC win for the Explorers *rolls eyes*
              The Joe-81, St. Bona-56
SLU-63, GW-38 <--- Amazing! The last time these two played GW won 49-20
              Xavier-62, Charlotte-60

All I can say about the X/Charlotte game is, "Phew!" That was a close one. Lavender hurt his wrist and ankle, and didn't score, Burrell was in foul trouble the whole game, X had 22 turnovers, and Goldwire had 31 points, including 7-15 from behind the arc. The Muskies probably had no business winning this game but somehow managed to do it. They get the reward of facing a ticked off Rhody team next Monday.

PS - Lutz may have figured out how to eliminate the Burrell factor on defense: get him in foul trouble. I think after he picked up foul #3 when it hadn't reached the 10 min mark in the 1st half is when I first uttered, "Oh ****."

Temple beat Rhody? Niiiiiiicccccccccceeeeeeeeee. This team is really coming together at the right time. Christmas and Tyndale = one of the best 1-2 combos in the land.

Xavier and Charlotte had a good battle. Rebounds and missed free throws down the stretch are what killed Charlotte, but they certainly didn't go down without a fight, tough loss but proving you can hang with Xavier is an accomplishment in its own right.

Sad to see Dayton's woes continue, good to see St. Joe's continue to win, they are putting themselves in good position coming down the stretch. Rhody needs all the RPI boosters they can get, and Temple would have been a good one for them.

Flyers are in big trouble. If Chris Wright doesn't come back soon, they'll be NIT-bound (or worse).

NIT is looking pretty good right now....... They need Wright back badly, however with him missing a ton of time I wouldnt expect him to be at the top of his game when he first returns. A-10 Tourny looks like our only hope for a NCAA bid right now.

If URI could have pulled it off, it would have probably sealed their dance ticket. Xavier has been great in close games lately, that will certainly come in handy in March. St. Joe's can't lose to La Salle. Good to see Dayton picking up a big road win at Temple. What's Chris Wright's return timetable? I haven't heard much more it since he went down.

They're still saying end of February for Wright's return, which means he's probably going to miss the rematch with Xavier on Sunday.

Darnell Harris went off. LOL the Main Line Kitties can't beat St. Joe's, but La Salle can. Funny stuffs.

Rhody is hitting a semi slump here that they need to pull out of. Umass and St Joe are next on the schedule as well which isn't good. However if they win them both, it'll pretty much seal Rhody as a MM team I think.
