Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
With St. Johns being in a big time conference and in the HEART of NYC. I'm surprised they don't get more big time city players there. Plus come on. They play big home games in the GARDEN. I always thought that would be a big recruiting boon for coaches to get players there. Guess i'm wrong in that.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
I always thought the same thing. But it could also work against them. Some kids don't handle the pressure enough. And that's as pressure as you can get, in the GARDEN, besides playing in Fenway and Yankee Stadium. With St. Johns being in a big time conference and in the HEART of NYC. Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
I feel bad for my hs basketball team. They're undefeated in conference going into the tournament this weekend, but they will have to play Dallas Episcopal who they didn't play in the regular season b/c they were in the south region and we are in the north.
They have to go up against this guy. http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.c...2&pr_key=68341
And on espn they are a top 20 team in the southwest, ranked up there with the two best 6a teams in Oklahoma. I mean, our school is #1 rank in 3a (even though we don't play in the state system, they still rank us) we don't have much of a chance.WUSTLComment

I didn't know Pressey moved out to that part of the country. He is certainly a late blooming prospect - that BABC team was pretty nasty with him and UConn's two incoming commits for next year (Oriakhi and Coombs-McDaniel)"You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
Quick question: how the hell do you guys know so much about HS basketball and the kids dominating the game? I've always been so in to the recruiting aspect of college athletics, but never could find the resources to really stay up on it.Comment

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
I don't pretend to be an expert. All I learn is by visiting recruiting sites like scout & rivals.com & visiting school forums for more inside info. When you're on sites like this one, you'll get a flood of info from a number of eyes.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
I coached AAU ball for a while so I know most of the big programs in New England.
Besides that it's pretty much what JD said. Scout/Rivals boards are a great source because people who watch the kids play live will give a (hopefully) unbias evaluation on the kid.
Plus there are tons of regional/local sites that focus recruiting.
For local stuff, I visit this site regularly.
It's great because of all the prep schools in New England, a lot of players who are originally from other parts of the country get tracked on this site.
Another good site....

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
I just heard that Baylor will most likely sign John Wall considering they hired his AAU coach.
If Calipari had landed him, Memphis could be looking at having the #1-3 players in the country assuming they get Demarcus Cousins.
Anyone know where Lance Stephenson is leaning?
I know he was at a Kansas game last week and MD the week before.Comment

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
They hired that coach awhile ago and most people expected a commitment soon thereafter, but nothing. Some analyst on ESPNU said it was down to Duke and Memphis, but I'd still put N.C. State and Baylor in there as well.I just heard that Baylor will most likely sign John Wall considering they hired his AAU coach.

As for Stephenson, it looks like it's down to Kansas and Maryland, but I wouldn't count St. John's out yet.Comment
