As long as Cal remembers to call timeout (Kansas) or doesn't get distracted by other jobs (Mizzou game), UK will be in the Final Four.

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
-Who said we won anything yet?And UK has won what so far?
You do realize alot of these recruits UK is landing will be one and done dont you?
UK fans are acting like the National Title is a givin next year. lol
Can we wait to see them play before we declare the program is "turned around" and have them cutting down any nets??
I do understand the excitment but seriously, alot of my buddies are huge UK fans and they are talking about winning 2 or 3 National Titles in a row, STARTING NEXT YEAR!
So what is up with Meeks?? Is he coming back??? And where is UK getting all of the scholorships for these guys arent they like 3 or 4 over the limit now?
-Who is for sure one and done? Wall and Cousins (that leaves 11 other scholarship players)
-We don't need to see any games to know that UK has turned it around. Calipari has a great winning percentage and obviously recruits the best. Pretty safe to assume we have "turned it around"
-Stop listening to your UK friends as if they represent the entire Big Blue Nation. Most rational fans think that if Meeks comes back then we should get to a Final Four. But we all know all it takes is one bad game.
-We certainly have an opportunity to COMPETE for national championships year in and year out, as we used to.
-As far as next year goes, it isn't JUST UK fans that think we have a chance. Look at any news outlet or sports news outlet and you will find neary every pundit talking about UK (with Meeks back) are contenders.
-Meeks...who knows? I think he will come back but he has had an injury (two years ago) that may make him think it isnt worth the risk.
-Scholarships will work themselves out. Calipari will let the ones that won't play, know they won't play, and they will likely transfer. Plus there may be an academic issue player or two.
On a side note, I can't wait to see some exciting games with IU again. Will be nice to see both schools doing well.#WeAreUKComment

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
Well I dont know how exciting the UK IU game this year will be!!! lol
I see UK 85 IU 45! LOL
Like I said I love it that UK is back and has a coach I really like. It brings me back to the Pitino days, as much as I tried I just couldnt hate those UK teams. I feel the same now with Cal, as an IU fan I know I should hate him and UK but I just cant!
Man I am going to miss Tubby and Billy Clyde, it was easy to hate them!!!ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
On paper, UK looks like a F4 lock. But people aren't looking @ the youth & the new system. Its hard to expect a team w/no chemistry as of yet to go that far. It always goes back to matchups. If they end up going against a veteran team in the tourney, they could have problems.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
That is true, but if Meeks comes back they will have him and Patterson for veteran leadership like CDR and Dorsey were for Memphis a couple of years ago with having Rose as the Freshman PG.On paper, UK looks like a F4 lock. Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
You are absolutely right in what you said. The unknown for UK is chemistry. Calipari does have a rep for players being able to play together so hopefully that will ring true with these guys.On paper, UK looks like a F4 lock. Also racerx is correct that it wouldn't be that bad with Meeks back, but still an inexperienced team nonetheless. If you have Patterson, Meeks and Miller starting then the first team should be ok. It's the second team that will be very talented but have NO experience that can be trouble.
On paper UK is very talented, if not the most talented team in the country (at the least, just behind Kansas). But we all know talent isn't everything. Heck, look at UK last year. We had Meeks and Patterson and couldn't make the NCAA Tourney. Most coaches would love to have those two and any 3 other players and be able to make it work. Of course there appears to have been some major conflicts with Gillispie, but who's to say that can't happen with Calipari (although if it did I doubt for the same reasons as Gillispie).#WeAreUKComment

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
IU is the only rival of UK's that I have never hated. Not sure why, but it has never been the case for me. Now that Crean is there, and Calipari and Crean seem to be good friends, it should make for some fun, but respectful games. Looking forward to it.Well I dont know how exciting the UK IU game this year will be!!! lol

Re: '09 Recruiting Discussion
Yeah, the weight of expectations will be this team's biggest challenge. Obviously the talent is there but Calipari still has to coach it and the players have to play together. This is like comparing apples to oranges in terms of talent, but the 2001-2002 UK team (Prince, Bogans, Fitch, Camara, Hayes, Hawkins, Estill, etc.) was a pretty darn good team on paper that was ruined by chemistry issues. National championships don't grow on trees - they are earned through hard work, good chemistry, and a few lucky breaks along the way."He who controlleths the backboard, controlleths the game." - Adolph RuppComment

Damn, if UK gets all thoe guys in school plus brings back Patterson and Meeks...yikes. Thankfully Bama doesn't have them in their division.

Um....that was true for maybe his last 3 or 4 years at Memphis and that's it. His first few years at Memphis, not true at all.You are absolutely right in what you said. 2 National Championships, a third championship game, being the second best program of the 2000s, and being the best team in the country in the sport Florida fans actually care about?
I'm sure they'll manage.Comment
