Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread

Piss poor first half for the Orange. They seem a bit sluggish on Defense and are sloppy on offense (12 first half Turnovers). The good news the game is actually tied at the half and they played better down the stretch.

Hopefully they come out firing for the best crowd of the season(so Far).

I know its a bit off topic, but Syracuse has already sold over 30,000 Tickets for the February game against Villanova, I got my Ticket! Me and my Buddy are going to the game, but we are going to start tailgating at 9AM, go to college Gameday at the dome, them hit the bars until 9PM and go to the game. It may get sloppy.

Pitt has been winning a lot of close games, and they were due to come up short eventually.

Hopefully we can respond and take out the Hall on the road Sunday. They are going to be desperate for a win; hopefully most of NJ will be focused on the Jets game so the crowd will be quiet.
Ya - I was at the Pitt-Georgetown game as well. The first 36 minutes were great, with both teams making plays and neither team really getting much of a lead. But - with 4 minutes left, Georgetown made a couple of plays on offense and then got back on defense. Gibbs just couldn't get it done during those final 4 minutes.

I hope you are right about Seton Hall, but I expect a really tough game there tomorrow. We had a lot of trouble with switching and give-and-gos against Georgetown. If we don't shore up on our defensive help, that could be a long game tomorrow.

        Wow.....

very impressed by West Virginia and Uconn today. West Virginia bounces back in the 2nd half to take out the Buckeyes and the Huskies are looking like the team I expected to see all year long this 2nd half vs Texas.

        Maybe Calhoun was the problem...

        j/k..

It only took UConn 36 halves this year to FINALLY play one up to their potential. Great victory, hopefully this team will not look back after this W.

I heard some guy on ESPN try to say the Big 12 was the best conference from top to bottom. pfffff.....HAHAHAHA!!!!

The Big East is head and shoulders above the ACC and Big 12. I say that and Gtown will lose to Duke next Saturday. Good win for UConn today, I think Calhoun's health and moping just zapped the energy and fun out of the Huskies, with him out the energy is back!!! Bad news for the rest of the conference.

Finally!!! Now we get 5 days off before taking on West Virginia in Morgantown.

I like the look of Jennings and Samuels on the floor together.

I think the Big XII is stronger at the top with Texas, Kansas and K-State but the BE has so many tough teams near the middle of the pack.

No way, Syracuse and Nova are better than anything the Big XII has. UCONN is a middle of the pack(towards the top) Big East team and they took down Texas. I would Put Syracuse or Nova above just about any team in the country.

I think UK is the only team I am deathly afraid of right now. Texas' weaknesses were exposed this past week.

I don't think Kansas has played a overly good team yet. When they did play a decent team (Tennessee without their best player) they lost while their game with Baylor was close. Kansas isn't that great of a team and if they get past Texas AND Kansas St. I will give them more respect, right now they're not deserving of their ranking...

I don't know how "deathly scared" I'd be of UK to be honest. They have a SOS rank of 87 overall with a conference schedule rank of 124. Of their 19 wins, only 5 are against teams in the Top 100 of the RPI and 2 of those vs the Top 50.

They are young, they are talented, but I do believe they are a very beatable team.

Any team is beatable, that's for sure. We'll see if UK found the killer instinct they have been missing in the upcoming games. UK had a decent schedule to start the year out but UNC, UL and UCONN haven't played up their preseason ranking. Although I do like UCONN beating Texas, that'll certainly help the rpi a little.

But if UK can consistently play a full 40 minutes per game, there aren't many teams that could beat them. The problem is they are very young and you never know what you'll get from them. So far it is working though.

Neither of one of those squads is better than Kansas and it took a monumental collapse by Texas in the 2nd half to breathe some life back into UCONN's season. I like the BE's overall depth and think it's the better conference from top to bottom but I just think KU & Texas are stronger than Cuse & Nova.
