When you mug a guy near the timeline you're going to get a whistle. When you move your feet and play great D, then reach in at the last second like a moron and slap a guy - most times you're getting a whistle.
It was a physical game with tons of fouls on both ends, it wasn't one-sided."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Yeah West Virginia was playing very physical 30 feet away from the basket denying Walker and Dyson. Denying them isn't stupid, but they are good enough to get the ball, so when they do you don't have to yank them by the arm every time. It was just very stupid plays and there was one point where they fouled them like that 4 straight possessions.
Still those refs sucked. I really didn't enjoy watching that game very much because every 5 seconds there was a foul, and free throws. In my opinion the game was a free throw battle, one which we won and WVU lost. I think they went under 50% from the stripe if I'm not mistaken.
UConn really has to keep this up. I really under estimated Calhoun as a coach. He really gave this UConn team a wake-up call after that abysmal Cincy game. Plus that technical was a great way to fire them up, and give the refs a little piece of his mind. Like he said, they're playing every game like it's a game 7 now.I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.Comment

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Guys, don't you realize that WVU has never lost a game that wasn't the refs fault or some bigger conspiracy? Hell, RichRod lost the 13-9 game on purpose a few years ago so he could go to Michigan and not have to worry about the National Championship game.
Believe me, guys like superjames and crques are the exception, not the rule when it comes to WVU fans.Comment

The stunt that ref pulled with Huggins at the end of the game was absolutely embarrassing and insanely disrespectful to Huggins. As a ref, you don't go sit there in their cotdamn huddle during a time out. If things get heated, walk away.
The ref took Huggybear's heat and showed no emotion, then calmly walked away and assessed the first tech. That's disgraceful, and showing up Huggins.

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Oh please. Anytime Dyson or Walker drove, they got called for a foul. And I'm not even counting the Wellington Smith and Butler stupid fouls. To deny this means you simply didn't watch the game.
It is ridiculous how the BE has reffed this year. Atrocious.Comment

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Yeah, that's pretty much what happens when you have quick, athletic guards who can get by almost any defender. Those two get to the line a ton, they have all year. WVU wasn't going to allow lay ups last night, so they fouled the **** of UConn all night. What calls were so horrible that involved Walker or Dyson getting to the line?"You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
1st half - UofL played well on offense and defense, and fouls helped G'Town stay within double digits in my opinion.(not saying refs were bad...UofL was)
2nd half - we went cold and Austin Freeman got HOTT!. When he hit that opening 3..I looked at my buddy next to me and said..."Uh-oh". It was like watching Scottie Reynolds light us up and lead his team to victory.
I just realized that UofL outscored Freeman by one in the 2nd half: 25-24. See Freeman, you're not THAT good. LOL
Samuels was soooo consumed it seemed with drawing fouls than scoring the basketball and then defensively....well lets not talk about something that didn't take place.
Good win for G'Town.
3 game season now for UofL and we must win 2 of the last 3 and it starts against UConn this weekend.Last edited by countryboy; 02-23-2010, 10:21 PM.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

The handshake between Calhoun and WVU's assistant coach was hillarious. You see Calhoun asking which ref threw Huggins out, the coach points at him, and you see Calhoun say "he's an *******."
Badly officiated game, but the whining and acting like it was one sided is ridiculous, but not surprising considering the source.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Sure did and they can clinch the regular season title with a win or Pitt loss coming up. As Boeheim said, it's nice that this team doesn't have to worry about being on the bubble for the NCAA tourney this year.Currently Playing:
