Yeah...sending 13 of your 16 schools to the post season tournaments, having 4 of the 8 Elite 8 teams, 2 of the Final Four teams, and the #1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament means nothing because the Big East didn't send a team to the title game.

And which conference top to bottom was better than the Big East last year? The ACC because UNC won the tourney? The Big Ten because Michigan State was the runner up? Please....

And I'd hate to break it to you, but the Big East is by far the best conference, top to bottom, in the country again this year, and will most likely be for the foreseeable future.

BE had the best conference last year.

I hope we aren't going to bring these conference wars in here as well as in the college football forum. Can we just celebrate our conference's accomplishments instead of bragging about it? Or trash talking? IDK....it just gets old for me. The smack talk between teams is fun. The conference junk seems silly.

13? Nobody cares about the NITs. And what does #1 overall seed mean when they couldn't even get out of their own region? That just shows they got a high seed cause they padded their resume against a overrated conference.

Big LEast proved what a fraud they were. Cuse getting destroyed by a 1 man Big 12 team, UConn getting destroyed by MSU (a team UNC killed TWICE last season) and the "#1 overall seed" also getting beat by MSU.

So I don't see how or why you would say it was the best conference when there was clearly 2 teams better than any team in the Big LEast last season. But whatever makes you feel better.

So please tell me....who had a better conference top to bottom than the Big East last year. Please tell me, because I would love to hear your rationalization on that subject given how well thought out your reasoning is for disproving the Big East being the best conference last year.

And yes I'm saying that to make myself feel better. Its not like the conference RPI ratings, the analysts, other fans from other conferences didn't think the exact same thing that the Big East was the best conference in basketball last year. Hell, it was mentioned by numerous of analyst as being the best conference in the history of college basketball, but hey, I'm only making myself feel better.

              A) UConn lost by nine and it was a two point game with under a minute left, how the hell does that count as getting killed?

              B) UConn was without Jerome Dyson, their second leading scorer and best perimeter defender. If Dyson is healthy then it's UConn/UNC in the title game.

What Big East fans were trash talking? You're making a straw man argument.

And, yes, the Big East did have the best conference last year. UNC was the best team, of course, but the Big East was still the best conference.

I don't know who will be the best conference this year, but time will tell.

Nine teams in the conference open the season tomorrow night.

I'm pumped to finally get to see UConn's freshman, and even more pumped that I got my video capture card working last night. I will be recording/archiving so many games this year, I'm in heaven!

Not to mention that a ton of Uconn's games are on tv. Between SNY, ESPNU, CBS and ESPNs I'm going to be able to watch just about every game.

I also have tickets to Preseason NIT Finals (which I'll promptly sell should Uconn lose, ha) and to the Kentucky game as well. Pretty pumped. Not great seats but these games rarely sell out. I was at Uconn-Memphis two years ago and by halftime me and a buddy were like 15 rows up from the floor.

                          Gtown @ Tulane tonight.

Interested to see if the offense has opened up a little bit. My guess is no.

Too bad it's not on TV, ugh.

UConn fan here set to kick off the season tonight! We're facing a scrub team, but a fresh win to begin the season would make it feel like college basketball season a little more.

I like Stanley Robinson this year. He will be better than ever and I heard he was always playing with a lung disability that he never knew he had so this offseason he had it cured or something, now he should have more stamina. I don't have a link or an official source, but whatever.

Dyson will be Dyson and I think Kemba can be the next Ty Lawson.

I'm just worried about our bigs. Okwandu looks like Thabeet's **** that turned alive, and he's so raw... Majok is still questionable in terms of talent but he will definitely be one of our best bigs when he plays next month. Gavin looks like the Gavin of old, and Oriakhi looks like he got into much better shape since I saw him at the McDonald's all-star game last season.

Our front court is going to be a big problem. I think people are overrating us a little bit, though in college ball you definitely win with guards so we should be pretty well off.

But as for the bigs, Edwards has never started a game or averaged 4 ppg. My personal view but Majok isn't going anywhere near the paint offensively, he's a good shotblocker but we'll see vs bigger guys who can body him up and create space. Oriahki is more raw than people think, he had 6 or 7 turnovers in one of the exhibition games. He'll show signs but it's damn near impossible to come into the Big East and beast as a freshman big man. Hell just look at Samardo Samuels last year, much more highly regarded than Oriahki and he looked really bad against some of the conference's better bigs last year. And Okwandu and Mandeldove, just forget about them. They'll be emergency guys in foul trouble.

Pitt opens tonight at home against Wofford. This should be an interesting game. Pitt is obviously more talented, but the experience difference is staggering; Wofford's starters have started 113 games in their career, while Pitt's have started 1 (Gary Maghee started 1 game when Blair sat out last year). We should win, but it might be tighter than you would initally think.
