Duke was just better tonight and is a better team. WVU was awful defensively and rebounded poorly. That's all there was to it. It's disappointing, but it was the best season in 51 years, so I'll take it. I just hate to see it end with a 21-point loss and Butler getting potentially seriously injured.

EDIT: It is being reported that it is probably just a sprained knee. Thank God.

That's good news. Lance Thomas had the same type of injury in the UNC game in Chapel Hill and actually played the next game. Good luck to Butler on recovering and again congrats to WVU fans on their season.

Butler's going to get the Christ kicked out of them. Kudos for them to not melt under the bright lights of the Final Four, but Duke is going to murder them. I don't think Matt Howard is the answer to guarding Zoubek underneath.

Not that I won't be rooting for Butler. I will. Hard. I just don't see it. (Full Disclosure: I didn't see it against Syracuse or K-State either. And even Fuller Disclosure: I had Murray State beating them in my bracket)

I generally respect your opinion but thats the most ridiculous thing Ive heard in awhile. Hating a guy because of his appearance is just stupid, and normally reserved for people who have their own issues going on.

I don't like the way he looks and I hate the way he acts. I used to play baseball with a guy like him. He'd bitch and moan at the strike zone when he got caught looking every time. And he was the most pale kid I've ever seen that played baseball(it's hard to be pale skinned playing baseball in the south).

Agreed 100%. Butler isn't good enough offensively or on the boards to beat Duke. Howard has no chance inside on the boards and they don't have perimeter players that are going to challenge the Duke guards.

I'd honestly be surprised if it were close. They are taylor-made to get drilled in this game.

I would agree that Duke should kick the living hell out of Butler.


...but then again, in a winner take all game, Butler only has to win the first half in order to put any type of doubt/pressure on Duke. And well if that doubt gets even the slight chance to arise from the shadows... it will be a lot harder for duke to win this one, than for Butler to lose it.

Butler has earned the right to be where they are legitimately. Although this is one of the most strange national title games in recent memory... Duke would be foolish to come into this game without any concern. This is the ultimate trap game of them all...

If Butler wins on Monday, it'll be because they're the better team. Hayward is probably the best player on the floor between the two teams.

I don't know why everyone is saying Butler has no chance. They have one of the top D's in the country and held both Syracuse and Kansas State to their worst or 2nd worst offensive games of the year.

Also Kansas State is just as good of a offensive rebounding team as Duke (both with O. Reb % of 40.4) and Butler did a great job in pulling down defensive boards against KSU.

Ah yeah I ain't trying to take nothing from Butler either. I think they legitimately have proven that they deserve to be here. This is not like some team that made a fantasy 3 pointer and shouldn't even be in this game. Butler did what they had to do, and they've done it consistantly.

However with that said, looking from Duke's sideline now, I don't see how given the history, of both schools, the players on both benches. What these kids have been hearing since they were recruited and the list continues, that the chance to play a mid major after rolling WVU tonight, play a role in the pysche of the first couple of minutes of that ball game either positively or negatively,

I considered the OU/Boise State matchup of 2007 a trap game for OU, not because the Sooners weren't aware of who they were playing, but because they would be hyped up so much by what they were "supposed" to do, what conference they were from, and because of who they are and who they were playing, they would wind up getting caught up in the end.

IMO this is the same situation. If Butler wins, they win on their account... but I for one am looking forward to the psychological factor that's going to play itself out in this game and if Duke will fall into it or if Coach K will have them ready.

Look at ESPN BAMJ6 5. My best bracket made the overall leaderboard.

should've picked Maryland, Gonzaga, BYU, Xavier and UNI, Louisville to win round 1
should've had Washington make it to 16
should've pushed Kentucky to Elite 8
should've kept ND to 1 win

Then if Duke wins Monday night, there's a 2 way tie for the 10 grand man

Typical Duke fan. LOL. did you see some of the garbage in the 2nd part of the 2nd half?

Touch fouls. Moving screens. Over the backs. But yeah it was all because of the comments our players made. We didn't switch well because of the comments our players made.

How about your team had a shooting game they will never replicate again. And just leave it at that.

Agreed 100%. Last night Duke was the better team and I was shocked at how well they shot. They definitely played their most complete game of the season and outplayed us in every aspect of the game, but it is frustrating to see over the backs, those annoying Duke hand checks and stomach pokes that never get called, and those damn moving screens get ignored all night long because it's Coach K's team. Duke absolutely gets away with more crap like that than any other team in college basketball but the refs did not beat WVU. Duke executed their gameplan, shot lights out, and played great defense. Too bad Zoubek's moving hip check screens didn't get called on some of those 3-point shots though. He probably shouldn't have made it past the 10 minute mark of the 2nd half. Dude should have fouled out way before that. Go Butler!
