Re: The Official 2010 "Running Commentary of Every Single Tourney Game" Thread
Congrats and major hats off to Butler. I knew they were going to be a pain in the ***! I tried telling you I didn't see a blowout, but whew. Zoubs the target of so many Duke fans helps bring home the title. This is my favorite Duke team ever. Overachieved, and won the title to boot. I'm still just on cloud nine I can't really process what I've felt from the end of the game till now. Had a lot of this going onthat's probably why. I could be crazy for saying this, but I wonder where a 5th banner might go? LETS GO DUKE!!!! YOUR 2010 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!

Jennifer Hudson = Worst "One Shining Moment" ever!
That was just awful.
1) Her version is just terrible. Why must I see her sing the song? It's about highlights and capturing the emotion.
2) I don't want a female singing this classic
3) Where in the world were the Gus Johnson calls throughout?"Hard work beats talent, when talent isn't working hard.”Comment

I didn't watch it last night, but just watched it on YouTube. WOW, that was bad.

I also don't need to see her music video, just highlights and emotion, that is what makes it something that so many people look forward to. Plus seeing your team in the highlights.
2) I don't want a female singing this classic
See above.
3) Where in the world were the Gus Johnson calls throughout?
Agreed. That is a travesty that you have no Gus. Hell, you don't let him call the Final 4, and then you shut him out of One Shining Moment? He makes the tournament awesome with his emotion, why not showcase him as much as you can?PSN: Koolie_G

I hate them too, but I can usually spot them from a mile away. They run their mouth and then when you ask them something they start stuttering ummm or uhhhhh and can't even remember who even was on the team 2-4 years ago. We have to deal with them till our turn as champs are over though. They usually move on to the next in a year or two. Anyone my age that didn't suffer through the 95 and 96 seasons *I'm 26 btw*, just doesn't understand what it is to be a Duke fan. Now the people born after that or were too young to understand and follow them get a pass.President of the Devils Den

Also, just so I can be called an idiot and petty and whatever else, why only a half second clip of anything to do with Kentucky? (a shot of John Wall clapping). I DEMAND EQUAL AIR TIME WITH TENNESSEE!!!Comment

Exactly what is your problem? I understand you have an axe to grind with John Calipari, doesn't mean you have to be rude or make backhanded insults to Kentucky fans. If you don't like Coach Cal, fine by me and I'm sure he's not losing sleep over it either. No reason to post a response like that. You do realize Memphis offered him MORE than $32 million to stay and he turned it down. So the statement about the money and how it is extraordinary really holds no water with regards to Memphis. Maybe other universities should be mad that they couldn't pay that much for a coach, but apparently not Memphis.
I am so glad that my life doesn't revolve around hating someone as yours seems to. If this was your only post on the subject I'd let it go, but it's obviously much more than that. I actually feel sorry for you. If I spent this much time writing and posting about Rick Pitino and how he did Kentucky wrong, then I would need to re-examine my life. Good luck to the Memphis program, I like Pastner and hope he does well.PSN: Koolie_G

Re: The Official 2010 "Running Commentary of Every Single Tourney Game" Thread
Top 5 is what they SHOULD get, but because of the disrespect they get from being a "mid-major" they won't.
Mack will return for sure(don't think he's a 1st round pick, maybe not even picked til mid to late 2nd if at all.) Hayward would be a lottery pick for sure because of his length, and good defense. His shooting ability needs to improve alot and will over time. I'm optimistic he will come back. And Howard has no choice but to come back imo. He needs to get a 12-15ft jumper first, and learn to play smarter.
We only lost Veasley and Jukes. Not the greatest recruits coming in, but I'm sure making the final 4 will help them in the offseason for recruiting. Living in Indianapolis myself, I am proud of the team, and what they did for this city(excitement/buzz wise) is amazing. Sucks that the Colts lost the super bowl, and now this though haha... NBA playoffs are coming now, so us Hoosiers still have plenty of great basketball to watch!
Googled and found this:
"CONTRACT TERMS: After coaching Butler into the second round of the NCAAs last season(2009 obviously), Brad Stevens was awarded with a contract extension through the 2014-2015 season. The terms of the contract were not disclosed, although he likely is earning close to $900,000 in base salary."
Stevens said himself they will have to kick him out before he leaves. Don't think he's going anywhere. He has a chance to really do something special. Build this program into a true national powerhouse to compete with the op guns every single year if he wants to. I see him coaching here for 30+ years and imo, may have most career wins as a coach before he retires(assuming they stay in the Horizon League, where they go 18-0 every year, plus win the tourney lol)
And yes, it's been a tough for us Hoosiers. Colts losing in the Super Bowl. Now Butler a shot away from winning the NC. Pacers didn't do any better this year either. Oh well. Always next year. Watching Butler ride through the tourney and get to Indy, and watch and listen to the fans at Lucas Oil, the emotion they had(last night was one of the best atmospheres I've ever seen in a Final Four), made me miss living in Indy. lol. Not sure why. It just did.
As far as Stevens, I agree with you, he does seem like that kind of guy. I'd be shocked if he left for another program. I don't know about 30+ years. People move on to bigger and better things in life. I do think he'll move on to a 'big time' program eventually, but I'd be shocked if it's anytime soon. It amazes me what he's done at Butler. Truly incredible. He's 33 years old. His record is 89-15. 3 straight tournament appearances including a ride to the Sweet Sixteen in 2008 and the National Championship game in 2010. Unbelievable.Indianapolis Colts

Or remember the missed FTs that cost Duke the NC back in I think it was 99. I hate those fans, but I also hate Wal-Mart Nation and have enjoyed their meltdown.Comment

Just off the top of my head, they didn't include Jordan Crawford's 3, Ish Smith's GWer on Texas, Pondexter's GWer on Marquette, St. Mary's banked in 3 to take the lead on 'Nova. Hell, the best game of the tournament (Kansas St. vs Xavier) had like nothing.
CBS better switch back to Luther immediately.Comment

McSoberts was a cancer and glad he left. Yeah 2007 was pretty bad, but at least we made the tourney unlike 95 *so many close losses including blowing a 23 pt lead to the Wahoos and losing in double OT*, and 96 where we lost to Eastern Michigan in the first rd with soccer players starting due to injuries.President of the Devils Den
