Re: The Official 2013 "Running Commentary of Every Single Game" Thread
Looking forward to Michigan...Florida can play with Michigan, but if Michigan brings their A game I think they easily outclass Florida. We just don't have anyone with the offensive abilities of Burke and then you throw in McCrary, Hardaway, Robinson, etc...
My only hope is Michigan has a let down after the huge win today...or that Florida finally has a game where we are actually hot from the field (don't think it's happened since January)."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. BTW - it gets overlooked IMO, but Billy Donovan has done such an incredible job building a basketball program at a football school. Everyone knows about the back to back titles, but 3 title game appearances, 3 straight Elite 8's, and a 21-3 record in the tourney since 2005. Very impressive."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Not to mention UF's big man coming in next year Chris Walker lives next right down the road. Dudes a beast and just lead my old high school to a state title.
Billy D is reloading again for next year. Along with Kasey Hill.Comment

I honestly didn't expect such a solid team this year...next year was when I expected the jump. This has been a pleasant surprise. Looking forward to Hill/Walker plus Young/Wilbekin/Frazier/Prather/Yuegete in the mix next year. I think they should at least contend in the SEC next year...."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I still don't trust us in a close one...we're too poor from the stripe and that has cost us games IMO.

Re: The Official 2013 "Running Commentary of Every Single Game" Thread
As a humungous Gator fan myself, I have to say the close losses aren't what worry me. I could point everyone to a ten different articles by Ken Pomoroy and the likes that prove that the whole close game thing is just a fallacy.
Just a question. Would other Gator fans feel better about the team had they won some of those comeback games (Alabama, Georgia, etc) by less than double digits? For me, all that says is that we are a dominant team. We have been extraordinary from behind this year, and we aren't getting enough credit for it IMO.
I'm much more worried about the complete lack of production from Murphy and PY. We need them to rebound and score to beat Michigan, because our guards are at best a wash against UM.Writer for Operation Sports

The Gators are a very, very good team...no doubt. I just think they have themselves to blame and not bad luck in those close losses.
Now, I don't know why you think we are a wash with the UM guards. No one on our team is as talented offensively as Burke/Hardaway. Boyton has been MIA since SEC play started...I don't know where PY has gone...it would be nice if he showed up Sunday.
I expect a tough battle, and I know Florida CAN win, but I just feel Michigan is more talented. Hopefully this team gets over the Elite 8 hump...they never should have lost those last two years (still sick about those games)."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. First off, I'm aware what the numbers say and I do agree that close losses are generally a result of bad luck. That said, I've watched every one of them and it was a case of the Gators missing foul shots, turning the ball over, etc at the worst time (see Arizona as a perfect example).

About the close games, I feel like it's a little bit of both. Do I think we gave a few games away this year? Absolutely. Do I think that has bearing on what would happen in future close games? Not really. Statistically, it was just the result of bad variance. Take for example the 2010-2011 Kentucky squad. They were 0-6 leading up to the NCAA tournament in games decided by ten or less. They ended up making a final four, and winning numerous close games.
I think we will win, but I'd say it's about 51/49. Michigan is a great team that reminds me a lot of us in terms of their makeup. Regardless, this group of players have blown my expectations for Florida basketball out of the water. Years from now we will look back and remember how great it was to watch three straight elite eights, especially when we know how difficult that is to do just one year. They've brought consistency to a program that is becoming one of the elites in college basketball, so the way I see it, everything from here is gravy.Writer for Operation Sports

Win or lose tonight it's pretty remarkable that this team has a chance to go to back to back Final Fours considering the way they played in February. Amir and Evan inside have to have good games. It has to be done. The Ohio State University

Down two with eight seconds left in overtime, Elijah Jonson drove baseline and looked to have an open shot at the basket, but instead passed the ball to sophomore guard Naadir Tharpe, whose shot came up short.
As Michigan stormed the court in celebration, a stunned Kansas squad left the court wondering how it all fell apart so quickly.
"We were trying to win it, plain and simple," said senior forward Kevin Young. "We came into the huddle and coach asked the seniors, asked all of us if we wanted to go for the two pointer or win it all and we said win it all.
"I mean it's my last game, not being able to put this jersey or step on that court anymore," he added when asked what hurts the most about KU's loss to Michigan.Comment
