LOL I will never EVER understand what goes through the members of the rule committee's minds. How do you not make that review-able?

Because we already have to spend 5 minutes per game reviewing completely inadvertent elbows and calling them flagrants. There's no time for reviewing important things like that.

Figures Illinois comes with a great game plan play it close all game and the refs **** them out of a chance at winning, typical.

as i said the goal is to trap or force the issue not primarily to foul. if you happen to foul u gain more time. Time only benefits the offense since they can dictate when they want to start the play if everyone is standing doing nuthin for 20-30 secs

I am saying traps are unnecessarily volatile at the end of a tie game. There's a reason teams do not trap every trip down the court for an entire game. If a player is stuck in the corner, sure, trap. But players are usually in the middle of the floor when holding for a last shot (to avoid putting themselves in position to be trapped).

In terms of strategy, I think coaches believe (and I'd agree with them on this) that they have a much better chance of stopping a team from scoring at the end of a tie game by playing straight defense than if they were to chance things and try to trap a player over 20+ feet away from the hoop where, as a result, any good college basketball team would be able to deliver the ball to the open man who was left by the trapper which in turn would lead to an unnecessarily easy basket to likely win the game.

Maybe we're just not seeing eye-to-eye on the goal of a defensive team at the end of a time game. For me, and most every coach in the entire nation, the goal is to get a stop. I think that's priority number 1, 2, 3, and 4. Doing anything that may lead to the other team scoring (randomly trapping) just to re-gain possession yourself (except now trailing) is likely at the bottom of any coach's to-do list.

Between monitor reviews and officiating and giving the nod to higher seeds. The officiating has been just horrid this year. It was CLEARLY off the Miami player's hands.

In slow mo, it looked like it clipped off the finger nail of the Illini player after Kadji.

Again, I think the ref kinda guessed, but may have lucked out. Way too inconclusive to tell, but imo, it did clip off the Illinois player.

The referee job in this Duke/Creighton game is the worst I've seen all year.

You breathe on someone off-ball and it's a foul.

The only thing I can say about these guys is that they call it on both ends, but too bad we'll see an NCAA tournament game decided by backups since every starting front court player will be fouled out.

I don't get why refs can't swallow their damn whistle, Why the hell do they have to call touch fouls, I'd be so nervous they'd call a foul on me if I was guarding a post player,if you breathe on them, it's a foul.

Defense alot of times just isn't rewarded, and players get bailed out by the refs.

Then they miss an obvious call, that goes against Illinois, and it's not right.

Sometimes I feel we would be better off with computers, human error gets very annoying.

This game is a joke. If either team just fed the post every play, then the opposing front court would be completely fouled out.

At least 15 off-ball fouls have been called, almost none of them with any meaningful impact on the play.

Illinois got robbed by the refs, and so did Iowa State, serious NCAA Refs you suck at your job, and you ruin games, and team's seasons, how do you feel you zebra jackassess?
