It's not out of the question that kid legitimately values college right now over being a top 10 pick. Maybe he would rather work on his game enjoy the college life a little longer and get picked in the draft next year. Maybe being picked in the middle of the 1st round is ok with Zeller as he may go to a better situation.

Who knows, but I don't think Zeller is a lock to go pro. He has a decent mid-range game that he is going to have to work on to be successful in the pros. After watching Syracuse's length bother him tonight he's going to have to pattern his game after like a Pau Gasol to be a good NBA player I believe. As he's not going to a be a back to the basketball player as he is now.
If Zeller doesn't care about money that's fine, he can do whatever he wants and his decision won't bother me one way or another. I'll either watch him in the NBA or watch his junior year next year. I'm just saying I think he gets the most money now by coming out. I used to see the Gasol comparison but he doesn't have Gasol length, which I think has been highlighted in the last 2 games.

I don't find Syracuse winning that game to be shocking at all. Syracuse has big guards and when a team starts Yogi Ferrell and Jordan Hulls together, a very small backcourt, that can create serious mismatch issues. I picked Syracuse to go to the Final Four because I liked this matchup for them. Don't worry if you think I'm bragging about the pick, my West region is something I don't want to talk about lol.

Like you said though, if he gets picked later he could possibly get into a system that would be more beneficial to him.
It's not that Zeller isn't strong, he is just weak and soft too often on the basketball court. This past summer it was reported that Cody benched 185 pounds 20 times which would have tied for the best bench at last years NBA Draft combine. He just needs to learn how to use that strength. And as the poster above said he is shorter length wise than Gasol. I believe I read that Zeller's wingspan is around 6'8 which hurts him. Don't quote me on that though.

I'm not sure that Cody will be a better pro than Tyler. At least Tyler tough and can finish in traffic. I can't remember an All-American ever looking so bad in a big spot. He needs to learn to go into the body of his defenders, create some contact and get to the line. He looked lost against guys his size, just remarkable.

Cuse was on fire last night, it was a perfect match up vs IU's pint-sized back court that had never seen the 2-3 before.

Ferrell and Hulls combined: 0-7, zero points, 3 dimes, 6 turnovers. Absolutely amazing.

          Props to Cuse.

Syracuse started very slow, I was concerned that they would leave the door open like they have a few times this year. It really was a terrible matchup for IU, I said before the cal game that Cal would be a tougher matchup than IU.

Syracuse-Marquette is going to be a brutal game, it should be a great game. I can see this game going either way, I would say it's decided by 5 points or less.

I can't wait to see what Florida Gulf Coast can do tonight, easily the most exciting team to watch in this thing, and you wonder how much farther they can get.

Wow, that's even more awful then. I thought he just wasn't physically that strong. It seems (to me) he is very good when he gets the calls inside, but when he doesn't get all the calls and guys play physical with him he is MUCH worse.

I feel like the book on Zeller is totally backwards.

I don't think he's soft and also I don't think he's that skilled. He's a coordinated big man with good hands, that does not mean he has a great basketball skill set.

I really don't think he's soft, I just think he doesn't know how to play the game yet. He doesn't shy away from contact like most players that get labeled soft. He was going right into the teeth of the Syracuse zone and trying to jump over the top of Cuse's frontcourt. That's not going to work. Ever. Then he recklessly puts his head down and tries to "LeBron" his way to the hoop over and over again and gets himself totally out of control and off balance and throws up a wild layup that rarely goes in. That doesn't mean your soft IMO, it just means you don't know how to play.

I never saw a half spin, a little fadeaway, a nice hi-lo pass, an up-and-under, jab-step followed by a 15 footer, etc last night. Nothing. I saw "catch ball, turn and try to power your way to the rim regardless of the situation". That's not smart nor skilled. But, it's also not soft.

Pretty sure they only use 185 lbs and just have the players go at it until they can't go anymore so its mostly just to see how many reps you can do at that weight.

I remember Kevin Durant couldn't even get 185 up once at the combine.
