Yeah, I've been telling myself I'm just happy to see Michigan make it this far, but I knew it'd still hurt real good if they lost. Getting this far just seems so tough and improbable that it's hard to imagine how this type of run may ever happen again in the near future.Comment

Re: The Official 2013 "Running Commentary of Every Single Game" Thread
It was a great championship game, the officiating wasn't great but the run Albrecht and Hancock had in the 1st half was great. Both point guards played good and Behanan was great on the boards. The title game lived up to all my expectations and was a great capper for a fun season of college basketball. The Big 10 was great, the old Big East capped off one more run and the Atlantic 10 was just great this year.
I agree with what Jay Bilas said. This year I didn't think there was necessarily a "great" team but my opinion changed by the end of the year, Louisville looked great at the end. Michigan had a ton of talent and I was not surprised to see them make this deep of a run. The title game had 2 teams who were ranked in the top 5 throughout the season.
One other thing. The notion that John Beilein can't win a big game is just ridiculous. To lose a title game means you had to win big games along the way and to add to that Michigan beat 4 teams with coaches with Final Four experience and 3 coaches who have won National Championships. In general I think the whole so and so can't win a big game is overused.
I can't wait for next season, Louisville-Kentucky should be a lot of fun!Last edited by phenom1990; 04-09-2013, 12:19 AM."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman

Re: The Official 2013 "Running Commentary of Every Single Game" Thread
ATLANTA (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville men's basketball players wanted to travel to New Orleans to watch the women's team play for a national championship on Tuesday.
Several players are frequent attendees of women's games, particularly Gorgui Dieng and Russ Brown.
The teams have been having watch parties for the other's games. U of L men's coach Rick Pitino plans to go to the women's game, and texts back and forth with women's coach Jeff Walz often.
After winning a national championship on Monday night, the U of L men's players asked coaches if they could attend the women's game in New Orleans.
"Our players asked," U of L coach Rick Pitino said. "And we asked the NCAA, but they said no. Apparently it would be an NCAA violation. They said it would be an extra benefit to the players."
So U of L's players will return to campus. And the NCAA misses an opportunity to show a positive -- men's and women's sports, supporting each other.
It's hard to see where U of L would gain a competitive advantage. NCAA officials have yet to respond to an email asking for comment.
And as someone who has tried to get explanations from NCAA officials on various matters this weekend, I doubt whether they can offer a coherent one anyway.
The NCAA likes to talk a good game about women's sports. Compare the infrastructure of the men's and women's Final Fours and you'll find it's just that. Talk.
U of L's men's players cannot logistically make the game in New Orleans on their own. Between their NCAA-arranged flight home to Louisville, buying their own tickets and turning around on another flight to New Orleans, there's no chance.
The NCAA had a chance to use this unusual circumstance to show support among men's and women's athletics.
It does not care.Comment

Re: The Official 2013 "Running Commentary of Every Single Game" Thread
But I loved last nights game! Bad refs and all. They let them play a little too much. But UL just weathered the early storm of 3 pointers. And took over the game in the first half.
Also I hope I didn't offend anyone last night with my comments about the refs. I've always felt players and fans should have bad memory when it comes to bad calls (at any level of any sports). Because with the game in hand. You need to move on. You can't let your hustle and outlook on the game hanging on one call (or a few).Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

I'm not happy at all about seeing Michigan lose. Yeah, they had a nice run, but in the end they still failed. They didn't play defense and got crushed on the boards at the end of the game. I'm not going to put anything on the refs; I thought they took a night off but whatever, Michigan didn't play well enough tow in and Louisville did.
This was a very rare opportunity lost. You don't get to the title game that often. Oh well. Life goes on.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)
NBA: Indiana Pacers (42-13)
MLB: Cincinnati Reds (0-0)
NHL: Detroit Red Wings (26-20-12)
NCAA: Purdue Boilermakers (FB: 1-11, BB: 15-12), Michigan Wolverines (FB: 7-6, BB: 19-7, H: 15-10-3)Comment

Obviously, I'm not happy about losing out, but at the same time I'm not mad either.Comment

I enjoyed the run and thought the final game was a great game. Michigan put it all out there and lost to another great team. I'll take this 10 times out of 10 compared to what it has been in the not too distant past.

Take heed, Michigan fans. Heck of a season, heck of a tournament run. You have a good coach and a bright future.
And don't listen to all of the jaded Indiana fans in this thread, they take joy in other teams' misery because they haven't won anything since this guy was President:

Re: The Official 2013 "Running Commentary of Every Single Game" Thread
I think that's pretty hard at that point in the game. Those guys didn't want to leave the game. And their best players. I think at that point. Players have to foul as quickly as possible in those situations. The clock is your worst enemy at that point in the game. Even if that means your best players are out for the game.
