    Re: OS Selection Committee Convenes

The results from today are posted below. I miscounted yesterday and we actually voted in 34 teams as an at-large so with Gonzaga winning their tournament and becoming an AQ, we have 33 at-large teams and only 3 at-large spots right now. So we will only take the 3 teams with the best scores off of tomorrow at-large ballot. Also, St. Joe's and Stanford were tied for 8th at 3 votes but I decided not to include them since we are only voting 3 teams in and I wasn't sure what the tiebreaker would be.

So by tomorrow night, rank the teams on both list from best to worst. I'm going to set a deadline of 11 pm ET tomorrow, if you need more time tomorrow just let me know. So by tomorrow night, we will have voted in 3 more teams as an at-large and created our 1st seed list with the teams we think are # 1 seeds as of now.

Essentially what will happen by tomorrow night is we won't be able to do any more at-large ballots until one of two things happen:

    1. An at-large team earns an automatic bid to the tournament or
    2. Somebody calls for the removal of a team off the at-large list and gets the necessary votes for that happen.

A team may be removed from the at-large field by a vote of all but two of the eligible votes. Such a team would be returned to the “under-consideration” board, without prejudice.
If you think that a team should be removed from the at-large field, please post in here in this manner:

I motion that we remove TEAM X from the at-large field.

Once you post the above saying: If anybody agrees with the poster, please quote the post and say I 2nd,3rd, 4th, etc. the motion to remove TEAM X from the field.

So it looks like Thursday and Friday, we will primarily focus on the seeding process.

Also for Thursday and Friday, I want to go to 2 votes per day and break the day up into halves. I don't want to do noon ET and midnight ET for deadline again. I was thinking 10 am ET and 10 pm ET for deadlines. With midnight and noon deadlines, it creates weird times to get things done if you are on the East coast and have to go to work in the morning.

With a 10 am and 10 pm et deadlines, you can conceivably vote at 9 pm ET and then vote again at 11 pm ET and get both done easier. For the west coast people, I don't think a 7 pm local time deadline would be that bad. What are others thoughts on this?

    RESULTS:

No. I stated before that yesterday ballot was not voting anyone in. It was to give a list of teams for us to rank today. Otherwise, we would need to rank every team on the under consideration list and every team we already have in the field. The manual explains how the ballot process works.

          Re: OS Selection Committee Convenes

As a follow up on the process to add/remove a team to or from a list:

To add a team to the under consideration list: We would need 2 members vote for the motion. So for example: You would say I motion for Team X to be added to the under consideration list. All you would need after that is one member to quote your post and say I 2nd the motion and the team would be added to the under consideration list.

To remove a team to the under consideration list:
We would need 5 of the 6 members to vote for the motion. So for example: You would say I motion for Team X to be removed from the under consideration list. You would need 4 more members to quote the post and say I 2nd,3rd,4th,5th the motion.

To remove a team from the at-large list:
We would need 4 members to vote for the motion. So for example: You would say I motion for Team X to be removed from the at-large list. You would need 3 more members to quote the post and say I 2nd,3rd,4th the motion.

To move a team up or down on the seed list: Essentially you need 4 members to vote for the motion.

After a team has been voted into the seed list, it may be moved by a simple majority of eligible votes. This “scrubbing” of the seed list allows the committee to affirm true seed accuracy throughout selection weekend and ultimately, in the bracket.
So here are the guidelines for that. Does anyone have any questions?

One other thing, I want to mention is please don't hesitate to use this thread as a platform to discuss teams. If you believe a certain team should be included as an at-large, should be a 1 seed, should be the overall # 1 seed, etc; make your case for it. We can all have a discussion on here about those teams, which I think is the real fun part of the committee.

            Re: OS Selection Committee Convenes

Since their conference tournaments are over and I don't believe anyone is giving serious thought to these teams as an at-large:

I motion for the removal of Robert Morris from the under consideration list.

I motion for the removal of Davidson from the under consideration list.

I motion for the removal of Florida-Gulf Coast from the under consideration list.

I motion for the removal of High Point from the under consideration list.

I motion for the removal of Iona from the under consideration list.

If you agree with any of these motions, please quote the statement and say I (2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th) the motion.

If you need help comparing teams, remember to use the profile spreadsheet we created or you can also use a great tool I'll just started using. It's a team to team comparison tool on CBS Sports.

I 2nd the removal of all the above teams.

Just a heads up, I'm going to fairly busy tomorrow and might not get a ballot submitted until later tomorrow night. Meetings ALL day. But I will get ballots done.

                        Re: OS Selection Committee Convenes

Here are our results: The 1 seeds in order are Florida, Arizona, Wichita State and Villanova.

The 3 teams added as an at-large are in order Oklahoma State, Colorado, Arizona State. We will not be able to do another at-large ballot until an at-large team earns an automatic bid or until we vote a team out of the field. The next at-large ballot we do, we will list our top 8 teams on the under consideration list with only the 4 teams with the most votes moving on. Those 4 teams will join Xavier, Dayton, Nebraska and Brigham Young in another ballot we will do, where we rank teams from 1 to 8 like we did today.

Since I want to start doing 2 ballots a day, the next ballot will be due by tomorrow morning at 10 am ET. If you need more time than that, please let me know and I will accommodate you.

Since we can only focus on seeding right now:

Please send me a list of the 8 best teams already in our tournament that are not: Kansas, Wisconsin, Michigan or Duke. The 4 teams with the most votes from that list will be moved on the 2 seed ballot with Kansas, Wisconsin, Michigan and Duke for tomorrow afternoon/night. DO NOT SEND ME A LIST OF TEAMS FOR AT-LARGE SPOTS BY TOMORROW SINCE WE WILL NOT BE DOING AN AT-LARGE BALLOT UNTIL SATURDAY UNLESS SOMETHING CHANGES.

Please don't hesitate to ask questions, if you are confused.

Here is a link to Wednesday Ballot results: On the TEAMS tab, I have it color coded so you can see who not to vote for.

I move to eliminate Belmont from the Under Consideration List

I move to eliminate Boston University from the Under Consideration List as they lost to American tonight.

I move to eliminate Green Bay from the Under Consideration List

I move to eliminate Louisiana State from the Under Consideration List. They have fewer than 5 top 100 wins, if they make a significant SEC tourney run with good wins we can add them later.

I move to eliminate Louisiana Tech from the Under Consideration List as they have fewer than 5 top 100 wins, which will not be enough to justify consideration against the other teams in the list. If they add some in the C-USA tourney, we can reconsider.

I'll 2nd Georgetown, that was ugly.
