I also love that Mitt Romney ended up in the top 1% on ESPN's bracket submissions. Awesome.

Bo is pretty salty right now, understandable. But idk how he can make that claim about the one and done, blame your league for that, I can't ever understand the anger over that, who can blame a guy for leaving early for millions to protect his future, what's Bo's salary again?

Yes they do... And the other thing is that most teams play a 8-9 man rotation anyway.

But on other note.... Have you guys seen some of the twitter things being said. http://www.sbnation.com/college-bask...wut/in/8120720 What a dumb fan?....

And I finally found the player tweeting about the game.http://www.sbnation.com/college-bask...bronson-koenig It's one thing for people to say Winslow got away with 2 plays. And the refs blow it. But a lot of the plays where the badgers fouled seemed like fouls to me. I saw someone say Franks foul on Okafor wasn't a foul smh. https://youtu.be/YqDwRH9NvbI

Lol that tweet from Koenig is great. I wouldn't say the refs decided the game, but it's gotten to the point that officiating is so horrific that it's hard to tell in some instances. I vividly remember back when MCW was still at Syracuse, he did a jabstep and a defender leaned his head in at the perfect time and took a hit to the chin and drew a flagrant foul on MCW because the rules apparently say it's a flagrant if a player is hit in the head no matter how small the contact is, and then you see at least two instances in the last couple minutes last night of Duke players elbowing Wisconsin guys in the face and in both situations, they got and 1's out of it.

I don't know if there is a solution, but the horrific officiating (missing out of bounds calls even after reviewing it) and inconsistency of the officials (like the head contact stuff) just takes away from the game.

Edit: and I mean this in general; not specifically for this game. The ending of these last few games has just sort of exposed these issues even more than they were before.

Re: The Official 2015 "Running Commentary of Every Single Game" Thread

Refs have been on a massive decline over the past 3-5 years with no end in sight. Something has to be done. This tournament has had so many ridiculous calls or no calls, shot clock violations missed, out of bounds missed, etc.

Some rules absolutely need to be changed as well. Like not being able to review a shot clock violation unless there is 2 minutes left. That just doesn't make any sense to me. So if a "should be reviewed" shot clock violation happens at 2:06 left, does that mean it is somehow won't affect the game? Does it really make a difference for an extra 6 seconds....or even 1 second over 2 minutes left?

Speaking of shot clock, that is also another rule that needs changed. Set it at 30 seconds and run with it. Widen the free throw lane to allow more spacing and push the 3 point shot line back another 6 inches.

I think those few things will help to see an increase in scoring. The other thing is that the refs need to be consistent with their calls. If it is a foul, call it. Be tight with it. Sure it would suck for about a season or two, but if they are consistent then teams will eventually stop fouling so much.

Anyway, good tournament overall. Congratulations to Duke (I just threw up a little )

First off, I agree with you. The only thing I didn't agree with the elbows to face calls that were made. I know one of them is the Tyus Jones play where he jumps into Koenig. I think it would of been a no call if the defender had not jumped. The thing is Jones and Winslow (you could even add Allen up there). They are really good drawing fouls on those driving (especially Jones).

Yeah, no doubt. I'm not even saying it should or shouldn't be a foul. But it needs to be consistent. If it's a flagrant when a guy simply does a jab step and a guy throws his head in front of him on purpose, it should be a flagrant when a guy jumps into a defender while leading with his elbow to the face.

And in general, I just hate seeing offensive players initiate the contact and draw fouls from it. That's always irked me, but it's one thing to do the old "pump fake, and then jump 5 feet forwards into the defender" thing and it's another to simply be driving and lean in with your body a bit.

Also, Grayson Allen REALLY impressed me last night. He's been pretty good overall when I watch Duke play, but his strength when he drove last night really stood out.

Funny thing is they made a call like that on the offensive player on a layup attempt, ( i think ncst vs lsu) but only because it drew blood on the defender the refs went to the monitor and called a flagrant foul.
Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.

I'm reading this mornings paper and I see even Nigel Hayes spoke up a bit.

I didn't know the Badgers led the nation in less fouls per game and more made free throws than their opponents attempted.

I get what Hayes was saying, but that means the Badgers should have been aggressive to the hoop too, instead of settling for the jump shot.

Yes I had heard that last before the game (about the free throws). I just re watched the second half this morning. And there in fact goes their problem. There was moment in the second half were I think the Badger guards were shooting pull up iso 3 shots. That's not their kind of basketball. I even saw Dekker complaing to the refs during the game,

One of the things that stands out was Bo Ryan talking about practice. That he calls all offensive calls when the players jumps into the defender. I think that's the wrong way to coach a team. You basically create this environment for players to get use to. You should coach in practice all over the place.

I still think one-and-dones are hurting college basketball, at least for me. It just kind of taints the whole thing in my view. I wish the NBA had never instituted the minimum age requirement. Of course, you still had one-and-dones who left after their freshman season before, too, but a lot of those guys would've went to the NBA right away.
