Interesting. So it’s a legit glitch and not them forgetting to give every player that tendency.

What happens if you manually give everyone their proper layup values? Does that fix it or is it still not right?

Unfortunately, that would not fix it. The problem isn't the values, it's that the column within the Roster Viewer/Quick Edit menu that would show that value is completely missing. It's normally between Step Through Shot and Spin Layup, but right now it isn't there at all.

This is the spreadsheet that the AI looks at in-game. So with that column missing, the CPU players don't feel compelled to take any layups that come directly off of drives toward the basket.

As Just Some Guy That Plays 2K, I would think the solution is to just pop that column back in place and we all move on. But considering that this is now Day 10 since the game was released on Early Access and the issue is still present, I guess the answer is a little less straightforward than that. We'll see.

This is assuming 2K is even aware or cares about this issue. They're too busy solely responding to online players and helping them find the most broken dribble and shot animations.

That's the fear. Is 2K going to care or notice when it's likely the biggest portion of the community won't care or notice? People who don't play against the CPU won't see it and I wonder if they would even notice it anyway.

So it seems like the game update has fixed the drive and kick issue. The CPU ballhandlers are finishing at the rim, instead of pulling a Ben Simmons.

Just remember 2k ship this game out knowing this problem they just don't care
Especially about the roster tenadacy for all eras
2k basically went cold on the offline players this year
I miss the old competive sim Mike Wang
The one that was frustrated with NBA live arcade and now look at him he's now exclusively arcadey park dev now🤦

2k is now became what they use to clown EA for🤦

I love how people say they don’t care. If they didn’t care they wouldn’t give updates throughout the year. This isn’t the cartridge days where the game would ship as is and no updates were able to be made for those that purchased it.

They have a date they have to release by and an even earlier date where the gaming code needs to be QA and frozen. Once the release comes out, they can send up updates to the gameplay until it gets in a better spot. If they don’t fix this for the rest of the year after all the complaints, then I’d agree they don’t care. But until that happens, saying they don’t care when it just came out is ridiculous.

They care about the online community. You really don't need more evidence than them going with "Green or Miss" across the game because it was a "community requested feature." It damn sure wasn't the offline community asking for it.

Do we know what was changed? Did they fix the layup tendency issue, change the default settings for CPU teams so it's not Drive and Kick, or something else.

You know how that goes, I can't say for sure what they did to make the change. It is happening for all the teams though. Same thing when I played the Bulls, and Kings they were driving to the rim hard, and not passing out. Derozan, Lavine, and White were putting much more pressure on the rim than before.

I doubt Mike has final say on where 2k focuses its resources.

Probably not, but still disappointing to see Mike go from someone who seemed passionate about creating a sim NBA/basketball experience to basically having to cater to the online community.

It would be like seeing a coach like Greg Popovich going from a fundamentals/play the right way coach to being focused on analytics and 3 point shooting.

In both cases, it's basically someone adapting to the modern landscape but also go against who we thought they were.

Or, the fact it shipped like this at all proves they don't care. That or their track record for years and all of the legacy issues, etc.

Then why keep buying it every year?

I skipped 2k23 and 2k24 because 2k22 I wasn’t a fan of. I got back in last year when they had a free play weekend for 2k25 and they made plenty of gameplay adjustments throughout the year for offline. I also wasn’t buying this year until I found out that the injuries and the two-way contract issues were fixed (which were big ones for me in 2k25).

Clearly their focus is mostly on online so that’s their top priority since most of the people who play the game play online now, but they did make updates for the offline players last year. So they’ll ship it and make the release date and fix things up throughout the year. The 2k higher ups set the date, the devs have to release what they have to meet that date.

They don’t reply because people harass the hell out of and threaten them in replies, so it ruins it for the rest of us that actually care and want to have legit constructive criticism.

Also what someone said before seems to be true. The last update fixed it. I’ve played 3 play now games tonight and have seen a few different offenses run and plenty of points in the paint. In fact I’m getting killed in the paint now (in a good way).

So I guess they did care enough to fix it…
