Just curious...everyone keeps throwing out "the percent of females that play this game is very small"

Do we have any actual numbers to confirm this? How do we know not a lot of females play 2K?

Do you have any evidence to prove that a lot of women play 2k? I really don't think we need numbers to confirm that 2ks demographic is largely male. In all of my online team up days in the past I encountered one girl playing. It as actually really funny too cause it was just a young girl talking **** to everyone lol.

TBH, this argument is ridiculous. I think 2K should just release free WNBA DLC and then let the player do a WNBA MyCareer that's just like the regular one except with WNBA players...

They'd gain more money from women buying because they can play as other women. I don't work for them so I don't know about the cost but it would mainly be new cyberfaces and voices, which probably wouldn't cost more then the new profits.

I guess we don't really know for sure but I highly doubt that adding this to game would bring in many new players. I don't think the reason that women don't play is because there are no women in the game. They just probably don't like basketball or gaming.
I just don't see this feature bringing in enough new players to justify spending the money on it. 2k has to see a demand before they can really consider doing something like this and I don't think it's there.

For those of you against this idea, let me ask you this ... Would you be more open to the idea if they capped certain attributes? Things like height, strength, and vertical. Maybe even only have the "rimgrazer" dunk package available to females. However, perhaps they could give them some special "crafty" layup packages around the rim (quick teardrops with a lot of arc, sweeping hooks, and high banks off the glass), give them a little quicker releases on their jumpers, and give them the potential to be dead-eye shooters from the outside.

Essentially, give them the ability to still be good enough to play with the male characters in the park, but also tailor them to play the way you see most girls play. Anyone who has played a girl who is used to playing with the guys knows that they get really good at making unorthodox shots, and get really good at throwing it in from downtown.

Ratings caps and special layup/shot packages would allow for there to be female characters, but keep things "realistic" (at least as realistic as it gets in The Park mode). You wouldn't see 6-10 girls throwing down 360 windmills on top of guys, but you might see a 5-11 girl with nice handles, a deadly floater, and a lightning quick set shot that's tough to block.

I'm fine with that except for capping height. It is totally possible for a female to be 6 foot 10...very rare but possible. All of your other points and ideas are great though, I like the idea of different skills for females. I might be in the minority but I think this idea could be really cool.

And for everyone complaining about how this would take time and resources away from other "important" things, with all the VC money and revenue they've made this year, they should be able to increase their development team. (They won't but if they cared about us as consumers and fans they would)
