Same thing just happened to me in my MyCareer save. Just bought a new jumpshot form, and it quit to the home screen, prompting me to create a new MyPlayer.

This is THE FIRST issue I've had with the game, everything was going smoothly until tonight. Hoping that this is addressed/fixed ASAP!

Here's the blueprint for how you fix this, 2k:

- Allow us to play MyCareer and MyGM online
- Allow us to save rosters on the hard drive
- Give every single person 300,000 VC each. This is the least you can do really, to compensate the time that people were unable to play a game they purchased, and for people that lost thousands of VC since launch.

Fix it.

THIS EXACT CRAP HAPPENED TO ME. WOW. (Except it was MyCareer. I really hope my file isn't messed with because I'm at all star break and about to participate in all the events.)

So are the 2K servers down for everyone or just some? It was weird, I was playing my MyGM file with no issues when I decided use some of my VC for an upgrade and got an error afterwards about the servers. It boots me back to the main menu (not even sure if I got the upgrade, but I definitely lost the 1,000 vc), and now it's asking me to create a new myplayer.

It's frustrating not knowing what is even going on with this game at times. It's basically like walking on egg shells where you're more concerned with what might break it, rather then just exploring it as a whole.

Is there an actual word as to what is going on? I just don't understand how I was able to play my save without any problems until I tried purchasing an upgrade...

I have been a part of the long time 2k faithful since the days of 2k5, both NBA and NFL. I am an avid reader of Operation Sports, but never post. However, I had the above issue happen to me tonight in my Pacers MyGM file 3 times which is just uncalled for and I had to post to vent my frustration.


I played a game and got VC for playing the game. I go to purchase an upgrade for my GM and it boots me the main menu because it can't connect to 2k servers. I have had it happen before and was able to get through a second time though. So, I shrug it off and I play two more games and get more VC even though I lost the first 1,000. Afterwards, I tried it again and lost another 1,000...and repeat....I hope you can sense my anger at this.

Now, before you say newbie or anything like that, I'd like to make it known that I am an older gamer. I understand that 2k is ultimately a business. I have an MS degree and work in a professional setting. I completely understand that. That said, 2k has been having issues with their online servers for as long as I can remember. In my professional opinion, requiring VC for things feels extremely cheap to me, if as a business you claim to be about your fans and value their feedback. I have not seen one person on these board who likes it. Furthermore, if 2k's servers are not up to par for next gen, DO NOT make it a requirement for our progress to be saved online and make us LOSE VC that we rightfully earn through wins in MyGM because your servers are STILL terribly unstable. Moreover, DO NOT take away the ability to SAVE our progress on our own system. These were horrible business decisions that really degrade the quality of the overall product. Notice I said overall, because the gameplay is great, granted you're able to use the right custom roster with edits and good sliders. I am having a blast on the court in the game. Off the court, not so much.


Before now, I never cared about the poor 2k servers because I did not play online. Currently, I must care about the servers though because their instability is negatively impacting my 2k experience and I want the VC I earned in my "association" back. I know I am not the only one who feels like this based on the above quoted post and other comments I have seen. People would not make entire threads about VC and online servers if they were hugely unpopular concerns at the moment. VC can be a good thing, but the way it is currently implemented is terrible and totally disrespects the 2k customer in so many ways. This is something I won't go into though. There are numerous threads about that very topic. To sum up, I'll just say as one of the many 2k faithful, please 2k do something about these issues discussed. I hope this does not fall on deaf ears. I hope I don't have to post again about these issues and I can continue to enjoy 2k as I should be able to. It was the main reason I bought a ps4 at launch like many others out there.

simply, giving us the ability to save to our own HDD's would remove my frustration.

remember, on day one, before the 1st patch, we COULD do this, the day one patch removed this ability so that 2K could force the VD/DRM down our throats.

The people who reviewed this game did not review this game as it is, they reviewed a non DRM working version.

Just need to point out, how is this helpful in getting anything done? Not to single you out, but I still think guys are going way overboard with some of these reactions.

There are people in pretty much every thread bitching about 2K not caring because they aren't saying anything to even address problems with the game. Guys are saying how they could at least respond to address they know there's a problem and then when they do, this is the kind of sentiment coming their way. Not defending them or saying they haven't screwed up big time with this game, but surely people can drop their pitchforks long enough to realize how ridiculous and unfair some of us are being in all of this? It's a double edged sword for pretty much anything they do.

This is true and I do agree. But to some extent, someone has to be to blame here. They forced an always online policy, which I actually like since it combats cheating and file altering, but I feel it is a bit over zealous. Change is hard for anyone to accept, especially gamers. If you are going to implement something that affects gameplay already established as something different, you should really make sure it is immaculate. This certainly isn't the first problem this game is facing, or the first sign that it feels rushed.


I don't think it is so much this issue that has everyone raising the pitchforks, but the compounding issues as a whole.


All in all, I definitely think people are overreacting since the price to entertainment value is still in the gamer's favor but the communication or lack thereof is definitely a problem.


It's not what you say, it is how you say it. People here definitely have valid points, but the aggression is a bit overboard.


I do think it is quite irritating how quiet 2K is with the community though.

Can't connect to 2k servers for the past 3 hours. Tested and was able to connect online

Xbox One: Madden 25, Cod Ghosts, Battlefield 4

Xbox 360: GTA 5

That was just to see if it wasn't just my internet. All theses games connected online with zero problems. 2k14 is the only one that is having trouble. This is is in California btw. It's a shame really because 2k IMO is the best next gen game when it actually works. But easily is the worst when it comes to updates, communication, maintenance and stability.

A hell storm is raining down on twitter right now. Hopefully this will make 2k think twice before trying a sleezy move like sneaking in DRM after reviews through a mandatory patch. We're on to you 2k.
