Player's Story (optional):
Patrick Joseph was one of the top recruits in Wisconsin his junior year of high school, being actively recruited by many teams in the Big Ten - Purdue, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Indiana. He was a star throughout the state, as he wowed scouts and fans alike with his great athleticism and shooting ability. Before the start of his Senior year, however, Patrick had some run-ins with the law that caused him to be suspended for the first month of the season. Then, in only his second game after his suspension, Patrick suffered a broken leg that caused him to miss the rest of his season. Seeing him as a risk, none of the big schools that were interested in him offered him scholarships. Thinking that he was a steal and could flourish in their system, UW-Green Bay offered him a scholarship to play for them.
His first year in Green Bay was not all that he'd hoped for. Plugged into the starting lineup as a true freshman, Patrick attempted to be THE guy, as he was in high school, to near-disastrous results. His attempt as a failed volume scorer ended up costing him his starting job not even halfway into the season, and his sullen attitude gave him a permanent place on the bench for the rest of the year. Things got so bad, that Patrick even considered transferring, but was talked out of it by his roommate and fellow Phoenix, Chad Starr.
After his freshman year, Patrick decided to re-dedicate himself to basketball and to find a new role with the team. Over the summer he added 15 pounds of muscle and studied film like a mad man. The coaches saw his new dedication, and awarded him with a starting job his Sophomore year. He repaid in kind, being near the top in nearly every statistical category for his team - 3rd in PPG (10.3), 2nd in RBP (6.5), 2nd in APG (4.2), 4th in SPG (1.1), 2nd in BPG (1.2), 1st in FG% (52%).
Patrick, along with Chad Starr, led the Phoenix to 3 straight Horizon League championships, advancing to the Sweet 16 as Juniors.
Scouts see a solid future for Patrick in the NBA, but are concerned by the fact that he does not excel in any one area. Do-it-all guys do not usually end up being stars in the NBA.
