Re: [PS4] NBA 2K14 Fantasy Draft Class - Create your own player!

            First Name: Christian
            Last Name: Joseph
            School/From: Notre Dame
            Birthdate (MM/DD): 12/04
            Class (freshman, soph, etc.): Soph
            Position: C
            2nd Position: PF
            Play Style: Defensive
            Number: 5
            Left or Right Handed: Right
Personality type (laid back, neutral, etc.): laid back

            Draft Tier (A,B,C, etc.): B
If filled up, would you rather have your player move down a tier or to the next class?:
Down a tier, but either is fine.
            Current NBA Player Comparison:
Ben Wallace with much more physical upside, but without the hustle/motor that made Wallace great.
Or, described another way - the Derrick Coleman of defensive prospects.

            Height: 6'9
            Weight: 245
Wingspan: massive, 7'5 wingspan on a 6'9 frame
Shoulder length (1-5): Also massive, Joseph's incredibly strong/wide frame, standing reach, and physical traits are most of his appeal
Body length (1-5): 4, large torso with shorter legs

Skin Tone (1-6, 1 being the lightest): 6
Hair Style & Color: Dreads preferred, but a headband is a good alternative. No bald head please.
            Facial Hair?: none

            Any specific gear?:
            Shoes/brand:
            Jordan V's
double finger strap on both hands (black)
powerweb sleeve on both arms (team color 2)
            Medium double socks
hexpad sleeve on both knees (black)

            5 Strengths of Play Style:
            1. The strongest player in college basketball, he may also be one of the strongest players in the NBA from day 1.
            2. Great def awareness. Also a very good low post defender, although he can struggle with taller post players.
            3. Incredible potential if he actually puts in the work.
            4. Has elite hops which contributes to great rebounding numbers
            5. Willing and accurate passer on offense

            5 Weaknesses of Play Style:
            1. Very raw offensively, will need a couple seasons to grasp an NBA offense.
            2. Has not developed a consistent jump shot. Inside game consists mostly of putbacks and dunks. Working on a mid-range jumper, but it is far from NBA ready.
            3. Relies too heavily on his athleticism, which sometimes makes him lazy on the court.
            4. Despite excellent physical attributes, he does not have ideal height for a center or ideal quickness/speed for a forward. A tweener.
            5. Too passive on offense. While he is a good passer, Joseph too often passes out rather than going for high percentage looks. An accurate passer, but not a good one.
6 (bonus!). Suffers debilitating migraines and may miss significant play time.

Any funny or cool animations you want me to include?:
            Vince Carter's rim pull ups

            Player's Story (optional):

Christian Joseph came to Notre Dame with all the fanfare deserving of a top overall high school recruit. After a disastrous freshman season which saw him miss all but 5 games due to migraines, and the media publicly question his desire for the game, Joseph's draft stock plummeted.

Joseph returned to Notre Dame for his sophomore season looking to put the last year behind him.

Joseph was the unquestioned best player in the country for the 7 games he played. He then missed the rest of the season with migraine headaches, returning when Notre Dame made the NCAA tournament.

Joseph put up a dominant performance in the tournament, leading Notre Dame to the first ever #16 v. #1 upset and an improbable Final Four. Questions arose again in the Final Four when UConn's taller big men completely shut down Joseph on offense and he seemed to mentally check out of the game by halftime, leading to a crushing 79-58 loss.

So now the question for NBA teams is the classic dilemma. Do you spend a lottery pick on a player with incredible upside, but who seems to check out in key moments and puts forth minimal effort at times? On top of that he may have long term durability issues if migraines keep him out of the lineup for weeks at a time.

Sorry if I made any simple mistakes, didn't proof this before work. Thanks!

Re: [PS4] NBA 2K14 Fantasy Draft Class - Create your own player!

Let's see if I can do this right.

                First Name: Brandon
Last Name (preferably something the announcers can pronounce): Hamilton
                School/From: Kentucky
                Birthdate (MM/DD): 01/28
                Class (freshman, soph, etc.): Freshman
                Position: SG
                2nd Position: SF
                Play Style: 3pt Specialist
                Number: 2
                Left or Right Handed: Right
Personality type (laid back, neutral, etc.): Laid Back

                Draft Tier (A,B,C, etc.): B
If filled up, would you rather have your player move down a tier or to the next class?: Next class, please.
Current NBA Player Comparison: A less injury-prone JJ Redick

                Height: 6'6"
                Weight: 220
Wingspan (scale of 1-5, 1 being the shortest, 3 being average): 3
                Shoulder length (1-5): 3
                Body length (1-5): 2

*note: you cannot edit the face of players in draft classes, so give a general description*
Skin Tone (1-6, 1 being the lightest): 1
Hair Style & Color: Black hair color, and as for the style, well, I guess shaggy? But I'm okay with any choice you could make as long as it's not bald, a mohawk, or balding.
                Facial Hair?: Full beard.

Any specific gear?: Likes to wear a white shortsleeved shirt under his jersey. That's about it.
                Shoes/brand: Converse Chuck Taylors

                5 Strengths of Play Style:
                1. Simply put, this kid was put on this planet to score baskets. His three-point shooting has to be seen to believed. In one exhibition game playing for Kentucky, he scored 30 points, ALL on three-point attempts. He did not miss a single attempt.
                2. Brandon has been incredibly consistent with his shot for years. Every game, he's going to give you at least two three-point makes a game, and that number could go up with more playing time. If he's in a game, he's going to make shots.
                3. Perhaps the most clutch player that the University of Kentucky has ever seen, which is saying a lot. More on this in the bio.
                4. When asked about what player scared him the most that season, Florida coach Billy Donovan said, "Without a shadow of a doubt, Brandon Hamilton. Why? Not because of his consistent and deadly three-point shooting or his ability to perform late in games. "The kid simply does not know how to miss free throws. I can honestly say he is the first kid I would want to send to the line if he was on my team...and the last if my team plays against him."
                5. One reason Hamilton is so strong in the clutch is because he doesn't get gassed. His stamina holds up remarkably well, to the point that, near the end of the SEC regular season, Hamilton played all 40 minutes in each of the last five regular season games and two of the three SEC Tournament games UK played in. In the third (the SEC tournament final), Hamilton "only" played 32 minutes, and that was because he got into foul trouble in the 1st half.

                5 Weaknesses of Play Style:
                1. Simply put, he's not a good defender. He may grow to be a decent one, but he'll never be a good defender. His on-ball defense, in particular, is terrible for a guard.
                2. While he does have a little bit of room to grow, I wouldn't expect him to grow too much beyond what he already is. That's not entirely a bad thing, because he's already a great scorer, but his defense may never even reach "competent" status.
                3. There are times when he can be a bit of a ball hog, especially in times when he thinks that he's "feeling it". When he is actually "feeling it", nobody complains, because he's nearly unstoppable. In times when his shot is off, though, he likes to force shots a little too often to try to get back into rhythm.
                4. While he is okay at holding on to the ball and is at least decent enough to carry his own dribble and use that dribble to draw fouls, Hamilton is never going to break a guy's ankles with his dribbling.
                5. His speed is average, and his quickness moving around the court may be even a bit below-average.

Any funny or cool animations you want me to include?:
All I ask is that you give him the Left Hanging animation during the pre-game cutscenes. Other than that, I don't really have any preferences. I guess make Hamilton's layups "Swing" layups, if nothing else.

                Player's Story (optional):

As mentioned earlier, Brandon Hamilton was put on this planet to score baskets. Ever since he could pick up a basketball, he has been adept at putting a basketball into a basket. As he grew older, his ability to shoot from longer ranges only became stronger. By the time he reached high school, Hamilton was able to shoot three-point shots from NBA range and make them at a pretty consistent rate. In his senior year, he was named "Mr. Basketball" in the state of Kentucky after breaking long-standing single season three-point and scoring records. When Hamilton announced that he was going to play basketball at his favorite school, the University of Kentucky, his home state (well, except for Louisville, anyway) jumped for joy. Already sporting a great recruiting class, the addition of Brandon Hamilton gave John Calipari yet another top class to add to his long list of them. While everyone expected Hamilton to play a key role for the Wildcats, very few people saw him as more than a second or third scoring option. Nothing could prepare the state of Kentucky for what it was about to witness, though. Immediately, Hamilton defied expectations and started to score at a prolific rate, putting up 20 points per game on a team loaded with future NBA talent. The Big Blue Nation were willing to overlook his lack of defensive ability, because he more than made up for it on the other side of the ball.

Something else that the BBN did not expect was a trait that Hamilton became nationally known for. Over the course of the season, Hamilton became more and more confident in his ability to play late in close games. By the time the SEC regular season rolled around, Hamilton simply took over games in the last five minutes. If his team needed a basket, he obliged. If his team needed him to get to the line, he found a way. And if there was a shot that needed to be taken in the final seconds, everybody (and I do mean everybody, including the opposing team and the fans in attendance) knew who the ball was going to. And it did not matter, because he was going to find a way to score, no matter what. Brandon would have two nicknames bestowed upon him, one supplied lovingly by the BBN ("Kentucky Clutch"), and one supplied by fans who became terrified of this particular ability ("The Terror of Lexington"). It has been argued that Hamilton scored more clutch baskets than any Kentucky player in one season in the storied history of the program. Simply put, he just could not miss late in games.

Though Kentucky was bounced from the NCAA tournament in the Sweet Sixteen, Brandon Hamilton was not to blame whatsoever. He even showed off his clutch ability yet again in a round of 32 OT thriller against surprising Cinderella Tennessee Tech, where Hamilton hit a buzzer-beating shot to tie the game at the end of regulation, and then hit ANOTHER buzzer-beater, this time to win the game in OT. Even if there are noticeable flaws in his game, there are two things about Brandon Hamilton that are indisputable: He can score buckets, and he will score them late in close games. If you are looking for that in an NBA prospect, Hamilton is the guy to draft.
