I think they should add something similar to the fifa series where you can run out onto the court to shoot around and warm up with your team before the game. It would add to the immersion and should be an optional addition for people that want it, and those that dont can disable it. Right now it feels like games, especially important ones, come too quickly and I'd like to spend more time preparing in order to feel immersed.

Re: The Next Step in Immersion For Me
Man the sound ambience reverb the crowd modulation during runs... the oh and ahhhs on a dunk on or big play is not there.
The 3eeeeee on a 3 point shot is kind of just laying there by itself as you said the sound seems like a few people layered together with a pc editor program.
I did like the addition of players making sounds on the court during play..a nice touch but hopefully they go all out one day kind the rest of the game...

Re: The Next Step in Immersion For Me
I actually went and checked some vids from Live 10 again to hear how well it was(not to mention how on point crowd reactions were) and it's still the standard bearer for basketball game crowds. They even have the "3333333" sound perfectly captured.

Re: The Next Step in Immersion For Me
Considering how active they are on this forum, I have a hard time believing they haven't seen this (both a popular thread and one with a prolific first post).
Curious as to why they are keeping quiet, though. I mean, it seems everyone in this thread is being pretty realistic -- no one is expecting much of this to be in 2K15. So it's not like they'd receive a barrage of criticism for chiming in.
But I guess they want to keep up the mysticism factor of 2K15. I mean, if they don't outright SAY it's not in the game, then it might be in the game (even if it goes against our better judgement).Comment

Re: The Next Step in Immersion For Me
The devs that are active here are mostly gameplay devs. We need someone from the team who does graphics and sound to be active here. Would be nice if they interacted in the forums though. I remember beluba and ld2k saying that they were forwarding the graphic threads to the graphic guys but I've never seen either of them send anything involving sound.Comment

I hope we get some good news about the audio this year. It needs a LOT of work.Comment

Re: The Next Step in Immersion For Me
2k has a super team of devs....whoever was the sound engineer for Live 10 should follow OG and Mike so we have a complete set! In all seriousness, every year Live 10 vid is posted asking for 2k to have atmosphere like that. I was hoping that next gen would finally get Live 10 like atmosphere but instead we get the occasional sound cut offs during gameplay.Comment

Re: The Next Step in Immersion For Me
Dude I've been on the sound thing for years. It's just too goulache without some good earphones and even still it's not what it could be.
I do credit them for adding more arena specific chant music but I still heard that warriors music in too many other arenasComment

Re: The Next Step in Immersion For Me
I agree with literally everything on this list. Great post. I really hope the developers take a look at this.
BTW, does anyone know it we'll have dynamic attendance again? That really immersed me, especially as a Charlotte Hornets fan. I mean two years ago, you couldn't pay people to come to our games, now we're likely to sell out A TON of games. I would like to feel that difference, it would really make me feel like I earned (or lost) something in MyLeague.NBA
Charlotte HORNETS
NFL
Carolina Panthers
College
Carolina Tar Heels
Won't change until:
1) Hornets win a playoff game
2) Panthers win a Super Bowl
3) Tar Heels win another championship (Completed: 4/3/2017)

Re: The Next Step in Immersion For Me
A post of epic porportions. What with the dearth of quality posts on OS these days, it really takes a brilliant post to elicit a post from this lurker. I had no choice but to pay my homage in the hopes that whatever immersive features that you have detailed here that eventually make its way into the offline portion of the game also make its way to OA for the silent majority who would love the stability and presentation features offered to offline Association heads yet cannot stomach playing the utterly boring CPU; no matter the immersion of the off the court features.
Once a upon a time 2k gave us online league/OA gamers, an amazing website that allowed all league members to track games being played by their fellow league mates in real time, with dynamically updated box scores and play by play tracking. That feature alone allowed for unpredictably deep immersion factors due to the unscripted presentation that only hum v hum competition and leagues can provide. This work of genius was scrapped by 2k for Online Associations, which finally gave us the immersive factor of team building and multiple seasons that our offline brethren has had for ages, albeit with mode breaking glitches pertaining the modes FA and playoff advance mechanism that didnt always function as advertised.
With the jump to next now current gen, 2k has again taken the proverbial 2 steps forward and one step backwards, by ommitting the incredibly immersive yet offline-only myleague mode from the Online League/Association community in 2k15.
In short, the technology, design, and know-how is there. 2k has shown us these features in its rarest form in previous iterations of the game, albeit for their offline consumers. What gives; from them offering us these immersive nuggets that add to the infinite replay value to an art form that is humans forming their own rules based ecosystems, in the realm of competitive online leagues; that run for multiple seasons and with all the bells and whistles that illustrate an authentic NBA association.
The only thing stopping this from happening is the notorious online net code that has been 2ks kryponite since its inception. Change is a comin' my online brethren and the OP is to be commended if 2k implements even a quarter of what he has opined on!Last edited by amedawg00; 08-21-2014, 09:46 PM.[OS Vets NBA 2K10 Champion]

I do remember though on the pc version of 2k10 someone modded the crowd file so arenas could have anywhere from 100% to 30% capacity depending on the one you wanted to use and it looked great. When you played in arenas like the Meadowlands, Palace, Cable Box, FedEx Forum, etc. they looked hollow and it was beautiful.
@amedawg00 I would definitely love to see most of these things make it into an online version. I'd figure none of the things listed would be out of the realm of possibility baring the weekly show recap. During FA players could just be updated by the breaking news social media ticker while your recruiting FA's so you know if you need to move on to the next one or not.

Court sounds from over a decade ago, no legit crowd specific chants like Golden State's "WAAARRRIIOORRRSS," the Nets' "BBBRRROOOKKLLLYYNN," or Miami's Seven Nation Army chant, it's bad. When a game looks as good as 2k does now, it only amplifies it.
OP update: From the makers of "Real Voice," I bring you, "Real Noise"

I will make more parts to this with more team specific arena sounds and rim/net sounds for varying degree dunks and shots.Last edited by lakers24; 08-23-2014, 01:13 AM.Comment
