Re: Less than three weeks before release...

I think it behooves 2k to show gameplay. The marketing continues to get mighty peculiar. I think that there are ALOT of people waiting to see what Live brings to the table and the game is delayed. I have not preorded 2K and I am not sure that I will. I simply don't know enough about the game to decide if I want it. I can't make an honest decision about purchasing because I simply don't have enough to go off of but You tuber's vids and a few short clips of amateur cellphone video.

I am curious if the pre-order data is supporting 2k's theories about the consumers being hungry for the game? I'm not as excited this year as previous years.

Re: Less than three weeks before release...

2K probably feels like they don't have to release any gameplay because they aren't threatened...

Imo, Live should have released gameplay by now and it would probably force 2K to answer. Live's delay kind of screwed the whole schedule up, and now 2K doesn't have to worry..

People who really wanna play basketball, and are on the fence, obviously will go to 2K first because it comes out almost a month earlier.
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

Why does this matter? How many of yall are truly on the fence about this game? Even if you are one of those people....why do you need to get the game on release day.

People have seen around 30-45 min of gameplay at this point of you add the Gamescom and other games conference together. If you need more then maybe you should wait until release when there will be tons of impressions/streams to watch.

If 2k releases more gameplay...cool. But its not like it benefits 2k to show a ton of gameplay anyway. The game will be significantly different by the time this community gets its hands on the game with the slider tweaks and roster edits. So most of you will be judging gameplay that wont even resemble the game you will actually play.

Re: Less than three weeks before release...

Doesn't this happen EVERY year? I know in previous years they've had a Demo up but its been like 2 weeks before release at most and usually its an extremely stripped down version of the final game which gives you an idea of what most peeps played at the conferences but not a great overview of the final product. I do agree though that having no competition (and lets be honest, Live at this point has nothing) allows them to relax a bit more when it comes to releasing Demos and such, but its always the same every year when it comes to the release of actual video footage of what's going to be in the final version of the game.

Many people have real gripes about the game but they usually get buried with the overly excessive drama, and it usually goes both ways. You have the dudes who claim conspiracy theories on one side and then the dudes who defend 2k blindly on everything they do. Meanwhile, while all the ridiculous drama is being unfolded the rest of us caught in the middle just sit here waiting for the release. There's some like me who are too impatient and just get it on release, while others wait till they see video and/or reviews, which I guess is the smartest way to go. Point is, its just three weeks away and its always been like this around this time of the year, nothing changes. I always say that if you want to send a message, vote with your wallet and let them know why you won't be purchasing while being respectful. You might think that that one sale won't make a difference, but I believe that these guys are passionate enough that while they know they won't please everyone, they definitely don't want to lose customers.

The reality is that most of us here will get the game on release day (or before if lucky) and most will love it, some will be slightly disappointed and some will just be plain upset at the product they got. But I say, if you are so upset at what they put out, why keep buying it? I'm sure a year without a basketball game won't kill you. Or maybe it will. In that case, I think that our priorities might be a bit off.

This makes no sense though, and shows "a lot" of people aren't holding the games to the same standard. If you're truly on the fence about purchasing one game or another, 2K has had a LOT more information out there than NBA Live has to date - it really doesn't compare. For the people that say they're still on the fence, imo there isn't much 2K could do that's going to satisfy you because the disparity between the amount of information out there for either game is significant.

I'm a little surprised myself there hasn't been any gameplay direct from 2K, but that's about the only thing that isn't out there. And for people that are *that* concerned and still walking the fence, what's the harm in waiting past launch day to make the informed opinion you need to have?

Because some people are dumb and want something the day it comes out, it would be smart for 2K to try and maximize their profits so these people preorder and get the game...instead of waiting and buying it used.

I know I'm getting 2K, but their job should be to get new customers. They aren't gonna do that on twitter using hashtags and releasing little bits of info every week.

If they release some developer insights like they used to, or some real gameplay in hd...not only will it please us guys but also grab some people who might not get 2K.

Thinking back, I do not think I recall 'official' gameplay videos taking this long. Sure we have received information but actual gameplay seems like a magic unicorn. Was it always like this? The diligent people that corrected others, feel free to correct me.

At this point, I just wanna know 'basic' stuff without having to 'piece together' info myself from OS, Twitter, Facebook & YouTube.

                              Stuff Like...

                              - How many different 'modes' are in the game this year? I dunno. (Is there a 'definitive list' posted somewhere?)

                              - Can I create a player + assign him to my favorite squad + then just play the Playoffs right away?
                              - Or do I have to play MyLeague to do that?

                              - Can I play the NBA All-Star game without having to play 30+ games of MyPayer mode first? (I never saw any options to just easily jump right into the All-Star game in 2k14 on next gen consoles. Maybe it was buried somewhere)

                              - Can I play the in Dunk Contest (or 3-point Contest) right away? Or is that a separate DLC that I have to buy?

                              - Over 5,000 new animations... can we see a few of them?
                              - Or do I have to watch raw 'mo-cap' clips from 6 months ago and just imagine what they look like in the real game?

                              - Or maybe I have to rewind (unofficial) Gameplay footage off someone's shaky mobile phone & try to guess which animations are brand new? Will we even get an 'official' peek? at any? (Not a 2-second 'glimpse' in a trailer)

                              - New controls this year.... is there any footage of how they work? Can we get a peek?
                              - Will there be any 'developer discussion' vids about the new controls before Oct 7?

                              - Or I am gonna have to wait until I buy the game & learn on my own without any 'official' discussion of it from 2k?

                              - Or I am gonna have to watch a 'talking head' of a YouTube gamer discussing his 'opinion' of the controls without even seeing it 'in action' somehow?

Perhaps ALL these answers are coming over the next 2 weeks. I dunno. Not sure.

Because hashtags like #breaktheinternet and #yourtimehascome doesn't answer these types of questions for me.

MyLeague & Face Scanning is great, but I'm still 'on the fence' after last year.
(Especially since I won't be using the Face Scanning features at all)

After last year's disappointment / problems with the next-gen version of 2k14... there's just certain basic stuff that I want to know before even 'considering' shelling out my cash for 2K15. (This year, pre-ordering is out of the question for me.)

And that's not good when this year...

                              - I get a smidgen of info on Twitter. Maybe a few screenshots. (I don't care about 'locker codes')

                              - Then another 'small bite' of useful info in a live webcast a few days later.

                              - Then 2k wants a certain amount of 'likes' & 'retweets' to post the next morsel of 'player ratings'.

                              - Then a week or so goes by... and I may see just one article (or interview) on A SINGLE aspect of the game posted here on OS. (Like the MyLeague writeup which was very informative, btw)

This year, I just feel like I have to go 'out of my way' to 'cobble together' all the basic info on the game, in comparison to other games I have heard about & actually bought this year.

Again, maybe these answers are coming over the next 2 weeks. I hope so.

                              Time will tell.

Because the 'wait until Oct. 7... you won't be disappointed' phrase is not much of a selling-point for me.

Perhaps after 2k releases all their details, the folks here on OS can create some sort of 'summary' or 'wrap-up' thread (or article) that puts all the (seemingly basic) info in one location. (Something that spells out 'The Big Picture' in plain english)

Not every last detail, just a 'solid overview' that provides general info we are getting so 'piece-meal'.

                              Just a thought.

That is the way this industry works this days. Few years ago they released a press kit to the magazines and they made a preview for us with all the information.

Now they can allow themselves to give little pieces of information because each single one of them is going to be retweeted, shared and discussed endlessly by us. We are trapped.
