I don't see "Because some people are dumb" being enough validation to put a lot of time and effort trying to sway fence riders into purchasing the game. I'd argue people that want to wait and purchase the game used are looking more for reasons not to purchase the game than reasons to purchase it. So unless the media being shown is of the home run/grand slam variety, they're going to see what they want to see - and more than likely continue to look at the game from a more negative perspective than positive. "Looks like 2K14.5" "Doesn't look like they touched the gameplay" are the type of ridiculous comments I'm sure we'd see.
I'd like to see more developer media myself, but I'd argue 2K likely gets far more bang for their buck with going the social media route than the big effort/[possible] little return of produced developer insight content - and I'm not into Twitter or the whole social media move. I did a quick search of anything with "insight" in the thread title; the replies/view counts aren't all that impressive. Granted it's just OS, but I don't know that they did a lot for selling the game as the years progressed:
