Argh, so many people upset over such a minor thing.

Fixating on such a minor, unimportant detail, to the exclusion of all the good stuff, like the fixes to MyGM and the all-new MyLeague.

You can't pay for just the modes you want. It's all or nothing, kid. Purchasing the product will be an endorsement of this mode.

If you're REALLY so upset about this? Make a statement. Vote with your wallet.

    Don't.

    Buy.

    The game.

In my opinion, it's actually more realistic to be undrafted than drafted. When you got drafted in the game, you got drafted and so did the person that got drafted in real life. So somehow, you had to make a reasoning that the team that drafted you, somehow was able to draft another high quality player too. That made no real sense and you couldn't stop that because the entire draft would be unlike real life and skewed with different choices on different teams if one pick was out of whack.

While I do think an option to be drafted for variety sake should be there, I don't mind being undrafted. It's something different and potentially will lead to a 2K11 style MyCareer in the future with all of those things. This could be the groundwork for it.

If they're going for a realistic story...

Undrafted rookie, play in the summer league (put up 20 a game or whatever) no team signs you...you're mad, try out for bunch of d league teams. Play until February or so, the team you're affiliated with's star goes down with an injury and they call you up. You come in and around late March you get a start. They decide to start you for the playoffs...star comes back and you have his job which starts a rivalry...blah blah blah

You get the point lol, it would actually make sense instead of just being on an NBA team scoring 20 a game outta no where...assuming it's still as easy as it used to be.
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

Why does it matter to you? They're dissatisfied, they're allowed to disagree and voice their opinion. Just ignore it and move on. You're satisfied, you're going to buy it, what they do has nothing to do with you. Jeez.

Also, critical feedback can be another option for folks who are dissatisfied with certain aspects of a game they otherwise enjoy. What's neat is, the website OperationSports.com has provided a forum where gamers are able to voice their opinions on various sports video games. Sometimes, they're even able to interact with the developers of their favorite simulations. Moreover, wishlists and well thought out threads or posts can help play a role in the development and optimization of a given sports title moving forward.

Thank goodness 2K did not interpret the sales spike of 2K11 as being an endorsement by all of the unstoppable spin dunk. And thank goodness they did not interpret the successful sales numbers of 2K14 as an endorsement of VC bombs and the removal of a legitimate franchise mode.

              That's not what I mean.

I meant I'm seeing names on here that I've never seen before, complaining about such small, unimportant things, and then going to buy the game anyway.

It's even worse when people go "WE WANT REALISM!" and we get it, and these same people go "WHY ALL THESE CUTSCENES? JUST LET ME PLAY THE GAME!"

What I'm saying is that some people out there can never just be happy. And if they can't be happy with what THEY ASKED FOR, then they should put their money where their mouth is.

I just don't suffer hypocrites well, that's all. If someone goes "Welp, looks like I'm skipping this year," then they'd better actually do so.

And since I now feel I'm getting into dangerous territory with the mods, I'll shut up now.

What 2K did with 2K11 was perfect. If only they could have followed that path. Made it more detailed, improved the defense and offense and added the things that needed to be added (which have been discussed over here the past few years).

They were on the right way but they took an exit somewhere and got completely lost.
Another laughable post. There are FEWER locked sequences in 2K14 than there are in 2K11. There is LESS money plays and cheese tactics in 2K14 than in 2K11. 2K14 DID improve offense and defense, yet, somewhere along the line, you perception of what the game is and what it does changed, so now it's no longer to your liking.

I love how folks come in claiming to be all about SIM, but begin to hound on aspect that THEY personally aren't into - so therefore, those aspects are "arcade". It IS an elitist attitude whether you want to admit it or not.

Hold on. I deleted the rest of your post because it echoes EXACTLY how I feel about it. BUT, this sentence shows a VAST disconnect here. Why do you think VC makes the changes that they do? The fans. The "fans" are EXACTLY the reason the mode has gone down the path that it has. Reread my post from yesterday (last night). WE are the *minority* guys! We have to accept that fact. What we want and ask for will only be given to us in the ABSENCE of a consensus of the majority. And, sadly, it would seem that the majority of *fans* wanted the simpler, easier path. They want all the stuff we don't. More dunks and alley oops.

2K11 is so well loved because it was SO far above 2K10, that we (me included) have it such a high emotional pedestal, that it will be almost impossible for any version to top it. But like it or not, 2K14 was 2K11 with additions and improvements. It IS a better game than 2K11. The sales of the franchise grew past 2K11. What does that tell you? VC is making more people happy. It's a great game. But if it's not YOUR type of game, then that's cool. Doesn't make it a bad game. Just not one for you. And we "simheads" have to either speak louder or enjoy the parts of the game that satisfy us... Or just don't play. But that would be sad for all parties.

I completely welcome story/immersion elements but there's a big difference between that and one particular career path force fit onto us for the sake of some cutscenes of varying believability.

Another force fit story next year like your example would be absolutely horrible, and there's absolutely no reason 2K should take it in that direction.
The reason is that the majority of fans of the mode wanted more immersion and connection to the player and the "journey". Like it or not, it's likely here to stay, man.

I think the main reason for taking out the draft...IS TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

If they would of left it the same, yall would of been complaining about, "how it hasn't changed in years."

The draft in MyCareer was literally 15 minutes long, and you always went to the same handful of teams. It was in no way fun, or something I would look forward to.

You could go unsigned in the original MyPlayer and play for the d league until you got picked up if I remember correctly. It all depended on how well you did in the pre draft workouts, the summer league and the preseason.

The OG MyPlayer was actually more realistic than it is now

I went back and played 2K11 pickup games with my my player last year and people still do the same cheesy things. Them spinning layups and dunks, unblockable layups underneath the basket while they hide under the rim, etc.

The game was crazy fun...in 2010.
