    Re: NBA 2k15 Beluba Q&A

Thanks so much for taking your time...

    1) what would be your advice on timing with shot blockers? In real life i block a surprising number of shots for my height with timing, but timing in 2k seems to be a little different than real life.

    2) has any attention been given to making the hedge man more aware of containing the ball-handlers penetration? The big makes no attempt to stop penetration when the handler goes away from the screen, and when the handler turns the corner, the hedger often leaves and tries too soon and allows a drive.

    3) does the pass vision rating have any effect on hum controlled passers?

    4) in what situations does a players lateral quickness rating kick in, because on superstar Roy Hibbert is quite agile lol

    5) I know its been said that pass speed is tricky, but what about certain slow animations that look as of they'd only be done in practice? Are they used for balance with the momentum system?

    6) What are some cool Easter egg animations you've added over the years we might not have noticed?

This is my biggest issue right now. I feel like I have no control of my guy (offline). These guys are elite athletes. They should be able to change directions much quicker than they do now when pressing on the sticks.

There seems to be way too much hesitation/lack of responsiveness when controlling your guy. Whether it's pulling off a crossover/spin move, jumping to block a shot, or just changing directions in general. Everything happens a second too late. Even pump fakes. You tap the shoot button, and then they do the pump. They should pump the ball as soon as the button is tapped.

      This is all offline BTW.

Is any of this being looked at for a patch?

Thanks a ton for answering our questions. Much appreciated.

Yes, the input lag is a big problem, and sometimes a dribble input won't do anything at all.

First off, great job on the gameplay of the series, I don't think that gets said enough.

Q: There seems to be a disparity between players when they are your AI teammates and when they are your AI opponents. Is there some regulating factor that causes AI teammates to go against their own tendencies like passing up shots or not having their defense be effective?

Q:Is there a speed regulator on superstar and HoF difficulty? It seems harder to beat CPU big men in a full court sprint on these levels, with and without the ball.

Hey Born. The biggest difference between your AI teammates and your AI opponents is there are certain bonuses and influences in place to make your teammates "cooperate" with you, and in the case of MyCareer, involve you more than they normally might another AI teammate of the same caliber. This is done in an attempt to make playing MyCareer more interesting for the average user. So AI teammates might shoot shots they'd normally pass up because you're telling them to shoot or because they're trying to help you get assists. Also most people in MyCareer aren't running plays or any kind of structured offense. This can throw off the AI behaviors as well. Their defense shouldn't be any less effective when they're your teammates vs. Opposing you. But again, the user can throw off the AI's help and rotations by being in unexpected places which could make them seem dumb at times. I guess I'm saying that there are a ton of factors that might distort the AI but there's nothing artificial put in place to handicap your teammates.

For the speed thing, the AI does get a boost in several rating categories on the higher levels but I don't think speed is one of them. Not quite sure why you might be seeing this. Let me look into this one.

                And will it be implemented?

Can't name just one. But we've been scouring the forums daily and are trying to address the issues that keep coming up from multiple people as our priority. We're trying to be careful though because sometimes attempting to fix a minor problem can introduce new problems that even more people will take issue with.

Any chance you could bring back player stamina being shown on the quick sub menu (d-pad down) as part of a patch? Unless of course taking it out was an intentional move, which would seem strange since it had been a very important tool all through last gen.

                  Thank you.

This would be a front end team request. I can pass on the feedback but can't guarantee that it will be patched. I don't know why it was removed. Probably just got stomped when they updated the art.

Beluba if you guys read anything that has to do with 2K cheese please, please don't think too much about it. Because there was guy that posted a video on youtube of one quarter of a game he played on SS/sim. He accounted mostly everything that went wrong was because of 2K cheese. But here is my analysis of the game he played.

Anyway, why can't my teammates shoot in MyCareer?

Oh, they take shots, yeah, but they so rarely go in. Recently, playing for the Hornets against the Kings, everyone other than my player shot less than 40%. Two guys went 4-for-12, and Kemba Walker went 3-for-20. Then it happened again the next two games. I'm a center, and the only one making shots consistently.

Speaking of centers, something's up with the rebounding. I've taken it upon myself to get all the rebounds I can, but I shouldn't be getting ALL the rebounds...right?

Okay, not all. But for the last three or four games, I've averaged at least 30 rebounds a game. That's not a typo. Thirty. Granted, Al Jefferson was hurt, but this is ridiculous! (Oh, and we still lost all those games, because of said team shooting woes.)

Oh, and another thing: It says under My Minutes that I'm only supposed to play 32 minutes or so a game...yet, more often than not, I play well over 40. One time I played all 48 minutes! Is this supposed to happen?

It should be said that I'm not having most of these problems in MyGM or MyLeague when I player-lock.

Are you playing in the default difficulty level? I can't say I've seen these problems in MyCareer. I'll run some tests this week to make sure there's nothing broken with AI teammate shot %s. Same for rebounding.

Not sure why you're getting so many minutes. Probably because you're averaging 30 boards a game and the only one on your team scoring the ball. ☺

Also, at what seed in My Team does the difficulty play on Superstar?

Yes. All factors being equal, a user-controlled defender will affect the shot more than the AI.

Not sure about the MyTeam question.

Hey Beluba thanks for taking the time to answer questions I have 3,

                          1) One thing that has bothered me on various installments of NBA 2k basketball games and is very present in 2k15 is the CPU ability to recover from contact, forcing it's way into the paint creating contact and then able to go up for a perfect released shot, should there not be a mili-second of recovery to gather then go up for the shot or just more of forced release animation.

                          2) The CPU alot of the time when faced with tough defense will wait until the final second of the shot clock to take a shot, where in reality a player under pressure may shoot with 2-3 seconds left on the clock, basically not waiting until the clock hits 1, is there anyway to make this situation vary and not just 1 second left then shoot.

                          3) If there anyway to have the CPU more aware of shot block attempts , what differentiates human players and the CPU is that awareness which will cause differences in release time, I don't see a lot of variations in shot releases from the CPU no mater the situation, I would think a 5-9 pg going up again 2 7 footer would not go with a conventional shot in that situation .

I was playing on Superstar, Simulation slider set.

Strangely, when I increased it to HOF earlier, my minutes were more reasonable--but I still got 25 rebounds. We still lost, but it was by a more reasonable margin than the blowouts we'd been having. I thought this was the cheese setting...?

One thing I noticed in the game is that almost all turnovers come off of steals. In my last game the CPU had 8 turnovers and I had 5 steals. There are hardly any turnovers that come because of offensive 3 in the paint, charges, shot clock violations, or just errand passes. I think things like these are very common int he NBA. For the CPU, is there anything you think I can do to see some more of these turnovers? Or is this something that needs to be addressed and patched in?

Could this be why some people are seeing the AI team shoot a high percentage in mycareer?

I know the user controlled bonus is fairly small, but it does seem like the AI makes a high percentage of contested jumpers when guarded by my teammates in mycareer.
