As someone who's never touched MyTeam or ultimate team concepts, hearing about a Onyx Kobe or a Diamond Durant just annoys me.
I have no idea what these things are, and why I should I care about them.
The sheer arrogance of the game's PR is more confounding than infuriating.
After last year's debacle, you'd think the team learned how to engage with customers and placate them. Consumer anger was magnified because the PR reps (i.e. the link between the game and the community) essentially ignored complaints other than a few brief fleeting remarks.
Same thing now. While they will tweet out crap about people wanting some Lebron myteam rare metal card thing, and will hype up this rubbish endlessly, getting them to talk about this major consumer issue is like extracting blood from a stone.
This means the problem goes from "We havent got the patch yet" to "We havent got the patch yet because 2K has lied to us or doesnt care about the community, and isnt letting us know why or when we get it".
I would have thought improving the relationship with the public was a core goal of public relations.
If the reason is, we havent submitted the patch because our staff is on holidays and they deserve to be on holidays, the anger would subside a lot (Im not suggesting this is the reason). Reasonable people would understand. But it's the lies, and half truths, and careful answers that make people a lot angrier than they would be with some transparency.
