And that's the problem Da_Czar, everything has to be a produced flashy fireworks show for us to get any info. Just taking a look at Mike Wang twitter account @beluba will tell you all you need to know. He used to answer questions about gameplay, little teasers about new signature animations etc etc. Now he just retweets NBA Jordan Edition pictures and says "he's too busy for Twitter."
It's like you guys don't even have to try and impress us anymore. I miss the Ben Wallace trash talking in your face commercials. I miss NBA 2k having that raw edge. Now the whole environment is just power cream soft stuff. Even the environment in this forum is way weaker. I used to remember getting excited to jump on the forums and see what was up. Now it's just disappointment and shorter thread pages.
Just seeing a whole crew of 30 guys with state of the art cameras hanging around Spike Lee and the Lululemon ping pong ball dudes crushes my heart. This game has gone Hollywood. You can't say that doesn't affect gameplay because it's still a video game and the universe is connected. I don't want or need any of that. Even if it was the best mode or storyline ever, just the thought that NBA 2K has turned into this alternate reality Hollywood reality TV show storyline campaign crushes my heart. The whole vibe of this game has gone soft, catering to the masses. Sure, it makes you guys money, but it also gives me the impression that the NBA 2K I knew and played since 2k5 is long gone.

Maaan,i just wanna play a solid basketball game without the flashy glitter or balloons. I don't need to be anything. Especially not a story.
Don't even get me started on 2ktv as well. Something nobody asked for and definitely something people really don't care about. I want to feel like I'm playing a video game. This weird mixture of live action only further removes me from the video game world and I start to notice anything that isn't lifelike. I know it sounds weird, but I can't be the only one.
For me, 2k's marketing tactics border on the annoying. So much so that when something impressive actually does get revealed, I'm already out of that optimal hype zone. I feel sorry for you Da_Czar and all the other gameplay guys. You're second fiddle now to all the other fluffy material they push out for a few solid months to generate pre-orders. Your opportunity to market the game has been diminished, cast away, sent into the basement of the NBA 2k headquarters in California.
I really don't think it's an age thing either. Sure, I'm in my late 20s now, but I can honestly say my 17 year old self wouldn't have been excited after watching this "Beyond the Shadows" over produced over hyped disappointment of a video.
Does anyone else miss written content? Info you could actually sink your teeth into? I know I do! Paragraphs and paragraphs of in depth breakdowns of all the improvements and changes to the game. I don't need an edited produced video with Spike Lee. Just give me a few paragraphs, some screenshots, and I'll be just chilling back here like "Cool. Real cool."
