DC's point is a little off. Limitations will always provide less creativity and diversity wherever you use them. Although, I think a little more than half of 2k's players will create the same type of players (athletic guards and small forwards with curry like shooting skills) but that really just means we have to cater to what those people want. There's more than just a few people that want to have a chance to create something unique. Who knows maybe some people will actually explore outside of their usual positions more now than before.

2k... anything? At least explain the reasoning behind this system.

        Re: My Player Attributes

The reason these buckets are annoying is because of the VC.

I understand where both sides are coming from:

Why should we have to upgrade our 3's if we have no intention of shooting them. Furthermore, especially if this new system limits the caps for certain playstyles. It's even more pointless.

Also, on the other side, yea if the caps are lower it shouldn't matter if we upgrade these buckets with irrelevant stats.

But hear me out...3's, dunking, speed...they're all expensive to put up. So if we're upgrading a slot with one of those attributes in them, we're wasting VC on something we don't need nor care about.

There's just certain things where this new style fails. I want a super quick, short guard. He's good at getting inside and laying it up...too bad, he's got Jordan hops too and dunks every time.
Like someone else said, you want a mid range shot but now you can shoot 3s too? You naturally start shooting them....everyone starts playing the same lol
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

Not only does attributes add a new dimension to play styles but if 2k were being smart about it they'd make more money with it, since some consumers after seeing dozens upon dozens of individual upgrades will try to skip the grind and buy there way up and since some attributes are harder for certain positions a lot of vc will be brought, on certain individual attributes alone, everyone wins.

I wonder if 2k is going to give us a limited number of attributes you can assign to your my player like last year before you can play games to earn more. I think it was every 7 games you got a point to add or can we use vc and upgrade to 99 overall. Let me know what you think.

They don't need them as much because of caps but I think it'll still be good to keep that in there

This is so stupid... they really didn't think having to upgrade 3 point shooting as a big man just to be able to hit free throws was ridiculous?

What honesty could be their reason for keeping this terrible system after an entire year of feedback of everyone hating on it?

I really want LD2k or something to just come in here and explain this. It can't be out of laziness because look at everything they've done this year.

To be honest, I actually liked the attribute groupings from last year, although I wouldn't mind if they were diversified a bit more. Mid-range, 3-point shooting and free throw ratings should absolutely not be grouped together.

I know an easy way for a win-win situation. 2k allows for both options, and makes grouping less than upgrading each one. It encourages to use grouping to save if you were going to by them all anyways. The live practices should also increase your cap until a maximum cap.

Example: I reached my 90 speed cap, I must do a live practice to get a +1 cap in all Athleticism. My speed rating isn't a 91 but it's my new cap.

The live practice should also just upgrade your player if you wanted. You could choose to upgrade cap or upgrade the actual stat.

                            Re: My Player Attributes

                            A couple of thoughts:
                            1. The MyPlayer team has finite time and resources. They may not been able to revamp everything in one cycle.
                            2. 2K has a history of trying implemented systems for 3 cycles before completely changing them.
                            3. With several restrictive mechanics added this year, the bucket system may represent "potential" but not realized attributes.

What this means is that with the bucket system you upgrade each "potential" to max but because of scoring type chosen and positional restrictions introduced elsewhere your character never reaches that potential.

The best thing to do is to test this on release. Then we can provide true constructive criticism.

Was about to rant a bit more on this issue, but you really wrote exactly what was on my mind, I agree 100%.

Can't stress enough how disappointing it is to have the attributes packeged up again... All my crazy enthusiasm for 2k16 has cooled down massively.

I just hope we aren't in for another year of 7'0 SF's with Curry shooting, Westbrook speed, CP3 ball handling and LaVine vertical.
My only hope now is that attributes are connected with height and weight. So taller players can not be as skilled and explosive as short guys. Would be a crazy overlook on 2k part after a lot of criticism for how it was set up in 2015.
