For as long as I can remember my yearly tradition has been to play the AllStar game. To me it is the best way to check out how all the players look, how the signature animation and shots are, and to get a chance to play as the various stars. Sometimes I'll jump into practice mode to get a feel for the controls but usually I jump right into the game.

The only time my tradition breaks is if I have a friend over and we do head to head matches

Check out menus, edit players and check out sig shots/animation options, and faces. Then maybe a quick game or two. The next day is where things really get started. Once I press that 'MyLeague' option I'm gone...

I work from 1:30pm-10:30pm on Friday night, so here is a list of things I will be doing:


1) Come home for lunch break at 630pm, immediately open the Amazon pkg at my door and rush to my PS4.

2) Begin installation of the game/patches and head back to work for 4 hours.

3) Watch gameplay videos/read impressions on here until 10:30pm, when I leave OS for a few weeks to let the dust settle and hide the "game breaking bugs" from me that I've never noticed before.

4) Rush home, crack a beer and fire up the game by 11pm and begin my 6 day vacation that I took just to play 2k even though I'm in my 30s.

Got a good laugh at #3. Every year without fail there are threads about bugs and issues that are seemingly "game breaking". I play the game for a few weeks and think "man this game is awesome" check the threads and people are making claims about how 2k ruined the game and dropped the ball this year. It sometimes makes me question if I'm a fool for enjoying the game when others are claiming it is a huge let down.

2k11 might be the only year where the majority of people agreed on the games greatness. I'm hoping this will be one of those years

Well, see, I am only in my 40s, so I didn't take a whole week. Just Friday, Monday, and Tuesday.

I will be getting the game Thursday night at the GameStop midnight release. Then I will install it and make my MyPlayer.

Then, hop in a party with my Squad-mates to talk while drinking beer and grinding on my attributes in MyCareer.

I will probably take a break along the way to create our squad (we already have the logo and court design done) and once our MyPlayers are around 80 we will start the real fun!

Start checking all the cyber faces and critique them, the off to sliders adjustments and exhibition mode to play a few games including euro teams, classic teams.

Check out the rosters. Play a quick game with the Bucks, then head to MyCareer until 2K17 comes out.

First thing I do is start creating shoes I like having authentic color ways in the game for all the Jordans.

Same thing I do with like ever sports game look at the rosters not only to see how players are rated but to remind my self of what teams some players are now playing on. I am a sports nut and basketball is my favorite but I know I cant be the only one who forgets some of the moves in the offseason. The look at menus and settings to see what may be new and where to find some things. Then sim a year in franchise mode and look to see how sim stats are and if there are any bad things in the mode. It like ever sports game now days has a big problem in franchise mode that either kills the mode and never gets fixed or you have to want for a patch to fix it for sever months. I have thought about not buying sports games right when they come out because of that. Finally play a quick game to get used to the controls and start to see what sliders I may need to change after I play sever games.

Use the 1999-2000 Raptors vs. a bunch of classic teams...

Probably use the current Raptors vs somebody in a quick game...

Then start working on as many classic rosters from the late 90's and
2000's as I can as well as International rosters.

Practice in the gym with Wade and Miami as usual (mostly '06 and '13), then hop into an online ranked match.
