Lol!!!! Czar I'm only adding open-set pick and roll plays and some UCLA high post plays. The branching is so dynamic this year complaining should be at a minimum lol

Re: NBA 2K16 Official TRIANGLE OFFENSE THREAD

Can you guys explain the basics of what I should be passing and moving in a basic triangle situation?

I know nothing about basketball plays and I don't quite get how to run it. I've watched video footage of it being run and don't quite understand it either.

When I stand in the initiation spot, it tells me to pass into the key to my PF (I think).

I do this and now my PF is posted up at the top of the key. The moment my player catches the ball, he is immediately triple teamed by the CPU from every side and I get striped by the guy behind me.

If I somehow don't lose the ball, the play art shows three different passes at the same time. One to the paint and two outside. The problem is, none of these passes are ever open. They are always perfectly covered by the CPU.

Once I make the pass, the play seems to break and I don't get any more movement from my players or playart telling me what to do next.

What I am doing wrong here?

I think you can just attempt a 3 pt, or attack the basket. Jordan often did that.
You can try a pass to the teammate who is at the top of the key, and the second pass you wait the PF come at high post to make a give and go.
Or call a pick and roll with the teammate who is at the low post.

takki, the triangle is easier to initiate at the wing. u can either dribble to the wing or pass the ball whoever yor teammate (either sg or pf) is at the wing. sometimes, u can pass it to someone (usually the sg) standing near to the top of key, then make the second pass to the wing.

once the wing got the ball, u will have more than 3 options. the passer will cut to the strong side (the side of the court where the ball is) corner. the options are 1. low post bigman 2. corner pg 3. top of the key sf and 4. cutting big man to the high post towards the elbow at the strong side.

whichever options u choose, get ready for the next action by yor teammates i.e. cut to the basket, screens etc. if u cant pass it, one on one at the low block or like what jordanmike said call for pick and roll and attack.

shaq will be a beast down there, though i havent played the lakers yet ..

                  Great thread.

I am going to run a triangle offense mixed in with some up tempo stuff and pick and roll plays. Like the combination the Knicks seem to be set to run this season.

i recorded a gameplay with okc running the system. feel free to check it out ( long video, 30 plus minutes).

i mostly ran the freelance triangle motion cuts.
i am using two plays from the triangle playbook, one low post and the other high post play.
i ran a lot of manual pick and rolls when on the break.
i ran 2 to 3 non-triangle plays when i have 3 pt shooters on the floor.

this is on superstar simulation sliders myleague 10 min per quarter play.

The simplest answer I have for you here is to use the Y/Triangle button and hold it. If a defender is overplaying, the offensive player can cut backdoor. If Carmelo is being denied at the elbow, I'm holding Y every time lol.

Hey man, I just posted an in depth look at triangle and how to use it in this year's game. Take a look and let me know if it helps at all.

Classic paint THANKS YOU VERY MUCH 2K!! It is a beginning.
Some of your triangle are weirdly.
                          Good video Thanks you.

                          2k11 was good nevertheirless.

There is a pass i really don't understand, at exactly 2min 24 why can Jordan make the pass to Cartwright? I really don't understand this.
Same Thing at 4 min 12??

Good vid bro. But I do want to dispel the "heavy side" initiation that you were referring to. Ball side is always the strong side in every offense. And unlike 2K15 the players actually know what they're doing. So at 2:45 in the vid when BJ made a lag pass to pippen just so he can pass to grant is not required nor is it recommended. To a beginner, your first option should be to pass to Jordan in this scenario. BJ would then fill the corner and Cartwright would go the the opposite block to form a strong side triangle. BJ could have also made a dribble entry to the wing position that jordan had. jordan would then drop down to the corner and Cartwright would come over to form the triangle. Im saying all this because you dont want your PF (grant in this situation) making the entry passes to the post. he's also no threat to shoot from that position either. If that PF is Kristaps, Horry or Kukoc then thats ok but not any other PF.
