Re: NBA 2K16 Official TRIANGLE OFFENSE THREAD

I had a great game this weekend, Knicks (me) vs Cavs. Lost by 4 after a 6-0 run by Cavs to end the game. They clamped down on Anthony (35-10-7) and Porzingis (21-4-2) didn't come through in the clutch after having an exceptional 3 3/4 quarters.

But it's the best my offense has looked since I got the game. Patience is key, which I wasn't practicing until seeing this thread. Improved user dribbling and directional passing are my last hurdles. I have a tough time getting a decent shot when triangle action doesn't produce one. And turnovers from misdirected directional passes kill 5-10 possessions per game (Cavs - 17 points off 12 TOs).
Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?

It's not perfect, but not much is - we should be grateful we've got anything like this at all.
it was more like that in 2k12 but in 2k13 the backdoor was better.
Without playing on NG i think the second pass can be improved, if not, this action would not be in the game.

Re: NBA 2K16 Official TRIANGLE OFFENSE THREAD

i've been following the knicks game and felt frustrated on how they played the triangle. i would say 70% of the time the wing (initiator) passes to the guard at the top of the key to initiate the 2-man game at the elbow. what they failed to realise is passing the ball to the low block can also create equal opportunity for scoring too.

melo and the knicks should watch how shaq played the post game. when the defender front him 3/4 front at the low post, simpley swing the ball to the corner (strong side) and lob it in.

sorry guys just wanna rant on it. like kobe said, the knicks played more like a square than a triangle now.

back to 2k, i found a way for sg players like kobe or mj to play at the low block via freelance. when pg brings the ball up cross half court, look for eg. kobe at the wing (he needs to be at the wing). pass it to him to initiate the offense. alternatively, have kobe bring up the ball but must go to the wing spot. swing the ball to the guard at top of key. yor teammates at the post from weak side will slide to the wing. pass it to him. u will find kobe cutting thru the lane from strong side to weak side low post demanding for the ball. pass it to him and let him go to work.

very effective. try it if u want melo or kobe or mj to play at low post without calling a play. i used that on r. westbrooks and kd and it works.

Is that the diagonal cut across the key down to the low block on the opposite side of the wing guard's original position?

If so, yeah, that can be a nice action. Not always open, but nice. You can see it is some of the clips in my video but I did not really call it out. I should have.

Well, I tried the Triangle in MyTeam, but even with Shoot at Will selected as a POE, I often ran into shot-clock trouble. I did make 3 or 4 easy layups, and one open three-pointer, but I also had to hurl a lot of hurried last-second contested jump shots. I suppose I need to pass it around more frequently?

Re: NBA 2K16 Official TRIANGLE OFFENSE THREAD

I changed POE to average tempo and indeed saw a change in movement from patient offense.

As mentioned by some of you, I'm still seeing some stalling and lack of movement at times, but playing with the Bulls, I know when the clock is running down I can get the ball to Mike and call an Iso for him.

It's got to the point now where I too am hardly calling any manual plays when using the Bulls - at first I struggled with the Triangle but now I can get Jordan in the post, it's playing out really well.

Must admit, my triangle play can be very ugly at times, but it gets the job done.

Aside from the knicks, which team you think is best fit for the triangle to which can use the old lakers, bulls playbook or the current knick playbook?

I am interested in learning the triangle in 2k16 but im hesitant to use the knicks. thanks!

If you are stalling a lot that's probably what you need to do. If you get familiar with this locations and action points for passes in my video you should be able to use them to keep things happening.

Those do get bogged down when the defense plays hard on ball deny and physical defense but at that point you can be more patient holding the ball around the perimeter to get back door cuts to the basket, by player hot reads or Y/triangle.

You won't get that action will all teams/players. There is a tendency called freelance touches. KD and Russ have high touch ratings so that's a natural action for them. CPU will not call that for someone like BJ Armstrong

This action is called a "solo opposite"

agreed and noted. it however gives me a choice to run freelance where i want my best offensive player to attack without calling a play.
