Exactly. Please Dev team if you are reading this, do not tone down the defense. Please!

Alot of people complaining about computer defense being too good already. The game just cameout. Learn the game. I dont want 2k to patch the defense then it be garage again. After a few hours of playing i found out that size ups is the key to getting pass the computer. Just like in real life a size up dribble keeps the defender on his toes. Depending on how skilled you are you can pull up for the shot at the right time or go pass the defender to the basket. Im loving this game out the box. Just give it time. The more we play, the better we get, the easier the game gets. Everybody want be the best as soon as the game drop. I understand though.

I suggest going into Blacktop 1v1 mode on the highest difficulty and just play around till you feel comfortable and find out what works.

The LS step back is my bread and butter right now along with the escape hesitation move and the crossover to spin move.

I totally agree. You are going to have to take time practicing your signature size ups, running plays in practice mode, getting your players shot timing down and last but not least getting to your players hot spots. The learning curve for this years iteration of 2K is a bit steeper than last year so put some hours in the lab and practice modes.

Pick, mismatches, look at ratings and single out the bad defenders.

I have been able to separate from he CPU in MyCareer mostly by freestyling with the iso motion. It hasn't happened much, but one time I crossed over Tony Allen and I jumped out of my seat lol. But seriously they need to fix this...

Welp this the second thread about how the player can't drive by the cpu.

God I hate to see what Twitter looks like right now. Defense will definitely get nerfed.....

Re: How do i get past CPU?

A lot of this threads are coming up because they're former cheesers and got used to playing that way. (Unintentional or not.) Old habits die hard. It will lvl out in time. Just need practice.

DEFENSE IS FINE, just get used to making plays, passing the ball, making quick decisions/reads. Know YOU and YOUR opponents strength and weaknesses (what part of offense and defense they are good from). You can't force a lot of blow by's, 1v1, repeated plays. Because the AI will also adjust.

If you got used in the past 2K's scoring in ISO, not calling plays, cheesing (intentional or unintentional) then you're gonna have a hard time unless you practice.

It's like Da Czar said in his blog. If you want to play video game basketball you can STILL play like it at rookie and pro, but if you play the right way and want the closest to SIMULATION basketball you can play on higher difficulties. Otherwise you're really gonna lose a lot.

No one gets good in the game overnight, and it's just like we're starting all over again. It takes time and patience.

never been a cheeser....never will be

that being said, when CP3 ends up on an island with Jose Calderon, more often than not, Calderon is either going to get blown by or get his ankle broken...that's why somebody like Jose Calderon isn't going to be on CP3 very often

same with big men....most of them shouldn't be able to keep up with small, quick guards...but they do

when guys like that end up on somebody like CP3, they have two options...they can either sag off of him and give him decent room for a jumper or they can crowd him and watch him run by them

from what I've seen so far, bad defenders don't have this decision to make in the game....they are usually far enough back that you can't drive, but the shot animations are slow enough to were they can close out on you pretty easily

also, I don't really think defense needs to be 'nerfed' but rather the contact animations....players looking for a sim experience (myself included) realize that these are mostly fouls in real life....you can't just run around checking people when they get a step on you

i think the contact animations are still a bit much when they occur too....play with a dominant big like prime shaq and consistently throw it into the post

you'll see him routinely knocked to the ground and falling on his back from contact....that's too much IMO...completely takes me out of the experience when I see some 210lbs power forward able to body check Shaq into oblivion

I love that more fouls are being called and I love that defense is back, at the same time, that doesn't mean that the game is totally balanced or is flawless

what you are going to end up seeing is that 2k has done a pretty good job nerfing offensive cheese this year, but you are going to see A LOT of off ball defensive cheese...two sides to every coin

one aspect of defense that might need to be nerfed is blocked shots....I'm blocking centers going up for dunks with point guards again....I'm routinely racking up 5-8 blocks with good defensive big men....and when I block them they go flying like they are shot out of a cannon lol

On a semi (glue) related note. It's kind of annoying that my "raw rebounding pf" gets boxed out by the likes of austin rivers by just touching them. I hope this gets better once my rebounding attributes go into the 80's-90's.

It's kind of silly looking at my guy running toward the basket during a shot and immediately stopping in his tracks when his arm slightly touches some pg/sg's shoulder.

As a 2k gamer who does NOT like to do isolation stick skills to blow by the CPU, ball movement is always key for me.

Side Note: Every time these type of threads pop up, I get a little more heartbroken each and every single time. A stronger defense is a good thing. Gamers wanting to be good at the game immediately when it's only been a couple days is another crushing blow.

Why can't gamers be more patient and actually make the $60 bucks that you spent ... count and actually worth the money spent.

The more these types of thread pops up, the more I feel like the developers are going to cave and patch it, allowing the offense to once again over power the defense.

Isn't that a good thing that CPU defense is challenging especially for someone who is NOT a 2k guru?

Please clarify your final statement "my guess is we will have to tune down the default on-ball defense a bit." Are you implying that the developers should tone down the on ball defense so it's easier for the gamer... once again, like every single year.

Side Note: The following is not mean to be directed at you specifically, but just a general feeling I get when I come across any of these types of threads about defense is a little too challenging. It's just frustrating to see gamers not wanting a challenge anymore.

Battletoads, Ghosts and Goblins, etc. What would happen if developers were able to patch these type of games?

NBA2k gamers complain about "offensive cheese this" and "offensive cheese that" and "offense cheese there" and "offense cheese here" and "offense cheese everywhere," but when defense finally shows its face, the same people want the defense to be toned down so that cheese can smile once again.

Can't wait for the game to be out for a couple weeks and see threads about no one playing onball defence anymore because the AI can shadow the opposing player as long as they are the same position/height.

Step 1: Pick Bulls and put Butler and Rose on the best wing players
Step 2: Never be the onball defender and use the center/pf to shut down pick and roles
Step 3: Watch opposing player try in vain to get any sort of good shot as the CPU locks them down for you
                            Step 4: ???
                            Step 5: Fastbreak dunks

Another thing that must be said is that very few players in the NBA actually blow by someone like that and even the stars do it sporadically.

The bumping by the CPU is beyond excessive. Calderon can guard you the same way Beverly can. User defense is good but the CPU defense is too strong even on a low difficulty. I'm seeing defenders warp through screens.
