Thank you for making this video. This is my biggest issue on this year's game. The defense just absolutely cannot get back on this game. I had a game where me and my opponent did these full court passes leading to a layup 6 straight times, just back and forth.

yeah I know exactly how you feel. once it happens like once or twice it leads to a "oh ok you gonna full-court layup me? well i'm gonna do it too" and it leads to about a minutes worth of half-court passing and trading transition dunks, it's not even satisfying and just makes it feel like we're playing nba JAM not 2k.Comment

What I saw in that video just now was absolutely disgusting.
With all the talk of the improved defense this year, defense here, defense there.....how the HELL could 2K allow this game to be released with such poor transition DEFENSE?
It's not just the transition defense though, the HELP defense is bad as well. They were so concerned about on-ball defense, that they forgot about everything else. So many bad passes get into the paint when they shouldnt.
That video made me sick to my stomach.Lineup:

Re: Cheese Tutorial : How to beat HOF SIM CPU without running a single play or even p
this cheese gotta be stopped in 2k16.
well, it seems like real nba teams are cheesing too. i just watched the knicks vs celtics preseason game yesterday. celtics being the up tempo offense team, their gameplan was to have zella or david lee running after a made basket by the knicks. the bigs, robin lopez and porzingis, simply could not catch up with them. i saw at least 2 times they did just that before fisher called for a timeout. they managed to adjust their defensive gameplan.
now this is happening in 2k and there is no counter = cheese. hopefully this would be one of those gameplay issues to be resolved in the next patch release.
p.s. mike wang tweeted "the next patch has all the major gameplay changes".

We know that this development team is loaded with a lot of bright and talented people, so it's hard to see how they let these kinds of glaring, obvious flaws make it into the shipped build.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Cheese Tutorial : How to beat HOF SIM CPU without running a single play or even p
It happens.
It could have slipped through the cracks or more likely, it was the consequence of another change that they couldn't resolve in time. The devs more than anyone don't want this kind of stuff in the game. Doubt they just straight up saw this and ignored it.
Now if it's not addressed in some capacity in the patch....then that's a another story.....because it is indeed horrible.

Re: Cheese Tutorial : How to beat HOF SIM CPU without running a single play or even p
Honestly, I think HOF sim is near perfect. If they fixed the following things, it would be revolutionary how good the mode is as it actually slows the pace of the game down to a realistic level on all fronts:
- Fix transition defense (especially the zone issue)
- Tweak motion sticking with player (where motion is continued even after letting go of controls. I think this is to slow you down but the nerfs to everyone's speed and acceleration in Sim already does this)
- Fix "free" CPU baskets (where your teammates, even those with high defensive IQ simply leave a CPU player wide open for mid or three for no reason)
- Tweak teammates assisting on defense. (currently teammates will collapse way too early only on players you're defending when they set a screen.)
- Slightly nerf the mid range contested shot makes for both the user and the CPU.
With those issues addressed, it will lessen frustration. I am loving how the CPU actually misses open shots, how end scores are fairly realistic and dunks are few and far between for guards (unless on wide open fast breaks). The aforementioned is pretty easy to tweak and would make the mode extremely enjoyable for those of use who want that realistic experience. Right now, it's a good mix of difficulty and realism with good play resulting in well over 500 ball but some losses out of your control just like real life. So you are rewarded, but not too much where it feels like you've "beaten" the game.Last edited by Crookid; 10-23-2015, 10:18 PM.Check out my gaming channel YouTube.com/OffTheBrinkTV for Tips, Tricks, Tutorials, Walkthroughs and Let's Play videos!Comment

Re: Cheese Tutorial : How to beat HOF SIM CPU without running a single play or even p
Yeap this is what we have to deal with online. Half the problem is your cpu teammates take their precious time getting back. I also have started to notice that instead of taking off to get back on defense on long rebounds or turnovers, sometimes your cpu teammates on the perimeter takes a step in towards the basket you are defending giving your opponent a wide open fast break opportunity. And this is with poe set to limit transition.

I'm still trying to figure out where this so called "defense" is in 2K16. I remember them writing a whole damn blog bragging about how much smarter the AI is.

Clearly the only thing they did on defense is make the CPU on ball D extra OP. I mean looking at this the defensive awareness of the CPU is some of the worst I've seen in a 2K video game. I mean even 2K13 had better defensive awareness and that game was a complete joke on that side of the ball.
I got TONS more clips to show.Comment

1. ) Kyrie Irving should have been assessed a flagrant 2 for that highly irritating charge take attempt at half court.
2. ) Scott could have clearly just caught the ball instead of tipping it to Kyrie. Instead, as per usual, when you make a good defensive tip, it ends up hurting you
3. ) Kyrie goes backcourt but nothing is called
4. ) LOL so Love gets a dunk after AC Green whiffs on deflecting a pass from half court which is right in front of him AND Jabbar is there for the help but doesnt even jump???
(How did the Cavs player even know to make this ridiculous pass? Is he that good at cheesing the defense?)

I don't believe that 2K didn't do any work on making defense more sophisticated-- but I do agree that the overpowered perimeter bumping probably masked a lot of problems.I'm still trying to figure out where this so called "defense" is in 2K16. I don't see how the transition issues were allowed to get so bad though. It's so bad that even the CPU cheeses you on it.Comment

Do u have the defensive awareness slider toned way down because I struggle to pass without being picked off on all levels of difficulty ?

I've played ppl who did that all game long. The Cavs? Forget about it. Inbound to LeBron and drive on the baseline all game long. Add that in with the spin layup + infinite pump faking = cheese fest galore. Speaking of pump fakes, they slide you forward. I noticed this in practice mode. You can actually make incremental strides towards the basket with them.

hahahaha i know exactly what you are referring to. maybe 2k's calling a travel for pump faking repeatedly is their way of masking this QA failurehttp://vimeo.com/143273528
