Can I ask you, how do you play your way of defense in this game??? Do you go into the game and set up defensive match ups??? I'm not even sure how you do on ball defense with the left & right trigger. I'm not even sure about the controls in this game.

Do you not change up defensive matchups and settings during the game? If you aren't, that's one place to start. Now I never, ever play online, but if the CPU starts lighting it up against me then I adjust the defensive settings and that usually stops the bleeding 9 times out of 10.

Hope this post doesn't sound condescending, but a lot of people on here complain that stuff is broken when they just aren't sure of how it works 100%. This game can be confusing, but defense isn't broken (outside of some questionable transition defense) if you know how to play it.

So many moving parts and decision making they have the A.I. doing, that it doesn't do anything good or great or better yet well. They have no court awareness, the center on Defense is out of bounds 98% of the time leaving a gapping hole in the middle and giving up uncontested lay ups to the opposing center. The Defense is a glaring weakness in this game, and I play offline .

I play offline only and mostly mygm. I think the biggest change this year is that the team you play is reminiscent to their rl counterparts. I play the Warriors the most, switch on everything, and end up leading the L in opp field goal percentage. I'm one game away from ASW. Also played the spurs maybe 10+ games and Minny 10+ games. Minny gets blown on d, which is pretty realistic if you ask me. The spurs are much better, but I switch less on ball screens with them on d especially when the oldies are out.

Biggest tip I can give aside from videos is don't spam turbo (kinda like fifa), match up well, and if you can't stay in front of your man, resist playing on ball d and play as the help man. In my case with gsw I used to play off ball d with bogut and green a lot.

Ultimately, if you know how defenses work irl, and play good team defense, it works, unless you're on a bad defensive team. Then just run lol.

I feel like I play great defense and then all of a sudden the computer just starts hitting bs. The worst thing is contested layups go in way way too much. It doesn't seem to matter who is defending them they always hit contested lay ups.

The computer also likes to cheese the crap out of you. I was up 16 against the cpu in the first shutting down everything then in the second quarter they just kept calling for an iso for John wall and dunking like literally every time down the court. If I played on ball he would just blow by me, my help defense was way too slow even if I manually switched. If I tried off ball my defender would just fall over or get beat. Like I know john wall is really good but Victor Oladipo should not get blown by for dunks repeatedly especially when I have protect the paint and moderate defensive settings on.

I still won the game but they had 76 points in the paint out of 101 total. I tried protect the paint, I tried 2-3 zone but it didn't matter the computer was going to make bs passes into the paint and hit contested shots all day. 3 players hit contested behind the backboard shots.

Defense is totally fine, wayyy more manageable than having literally 1 second to cover your man in 2K15 before the green release goes up.

Referring to online, because offline doesn't matter at all -- change your settings.

Ok now I think I get it. Ok I purchased this game two days ago and only played with my warriors vs the cavs. I wanted to see how two top teams would go head to head with each other. Boy am I having problems with the cavs, but I'm starting to win more games. Also for the first time I played my warriors vs the suns (lesser team) and let me say that I am so happy to see that lesser teams have a tuff time dealing with higher ranked teams.......

So this opened my eyes a bit. Thank god 2k focused on stats for each player..even on default gameplay the lesser players showed their lesser statistics...So glad that all teams don't play the same.


My defense is getting better and I'm starting to understand what 2k may be trying to give us.

The problems I see in that video was:
1: you got sucked into the post position which will hinder your reactions for intercepting (why it does, IDK)

2: It also looked like a mismatch as well, like a SF guarding a 7'3" C, so the foul was inevitable. if you got the block, it would be because the C went for a flashy dunk/backscratcher.

3: The pass while bad IQ, was made to where you couldn't defend the inside score well. (how that pass got through is a different question)

"Fine" may be overselling it, lol. There needs to be some tweaks. I agree about it being more manageable than last year though....for me at least. Definitely going to start posting a lot more of my great defensive possessions since all we see are the mishaps.
