i the type of player that tries everything as far as coach setting for 2 years straight all i do is mess with the zone sliders in the coach settings bump it up to about 90 i gurantee you will see alot more help d its crazy but try it even though i dont like to tell my secret but test it out

Also another thing that people aren't factoring into defense is that every player on the court isn't a good defender.

How do you guys who are saying the defense is broken want 2k to represent this fact in the game?

For example, we all remember Otto Porters infamous play where he completely lost his man on defense . Some guys in the NBA suck on defense. Some teams suck defense. Do we want that realism in the game or do we want every team to be the 88 Pistons?

this is where your logic is flawed, and where 2k's logic is flawed.

2k makes bad defenders act like complete idiots and makes them run in the opposite direction of where they should be. sure this happens every once in a while in real life, but this is 2k's default way of showing how a bad defender plays in every single game.

thats now how it works in real life. a bad defender in real life actually stays in front of his man or near his man, he is just a step too slow to properly contest the shot or to make the proper play.

for example, david lee is a notoriously bad defender in real life, but he is actually almost always in decent position, he just gets beat because he doesnt have "it" on defense.

being bad on defense doesnt mean you just completely leave your man wide open and have no idea what you are doing. 2k does not represent this well at all.

they make bad defenders play bad artificially. instead of just making a bad defender more susceptible to being beaten off the dribble or just slow to react to contest a shot, they make him brain dead instead.

they need to get rid of the brain dead defenders and make it so bad defenders get beat in a realistic manner.

Some truth in this. You also see this where defenders in position in the paint just move out of the way of the driving ball handler, even if it's a big rim protector, if the right success animation triggers for the ball handler. On the more extreme end, this is where you get bowling pin fall down defenders.

The animations need work to simulate defense failure without making defenders zombies or scattering leaves in the wind for drivers in the paint.

Well iconically the game often simulates bad defense by poor rotations and help. It just happens with good defenders too.

Offline with my friends I realky am not noticing bad defense. 2k makes you make the play. My strategy is usually take control of the PF or C and just make plays . If people want their cpu AI to make that defensive stop. Won't happen. It's all up to you!

It's noticeable with the CPU, very noticeable, especially playing on ball D.

The CPU brain dead defenders should be patched.

Don't know if it's me simply me getting better but defense had felt great for me the past couple of weeks....I know Mikes tweaks to contact layups is playing a role too....

Even if the CPU zips one of those passes in (I pick off a good bit of them) I'm there to contest it. Defense is back to being fun again....I've had to check to make sure I was still on SS/Sim a few times, lol

Playing like a dream for me right now...when the patch cleans up somethings it should be even better..

Online....is a different convo lol

Post patch on ball and off ball defense has made this a completely different game for me. It's sad too because if I'm playing against the computer I can't kill them, but they will thrash me now. I have no clue why they changed that via patch. I sliding everywhere. I hang my hat on shutting my man down defensively, especially in the park. It's useless now. I had nothing but good things to say about this game, but now they changed it to fit the masses who are too lazy to learn proper basketball...

Now I'm seeing more ball hogs in MyPark having success. It's ridiculous. One step forward and instantly destroy it with a patch...

Post patch on ball and off ball defense has made this a completely different game for me. It's sad too because if I'm playing against the computer I can't kill them, but they will thrash me now. Recall of Patch 3 needs to be set in motion. Bring game back to day one and increase shooting percentages ASAP. Xbot users should be glad. Maybe they can convince Microsoft to reject the latest patch.
