Also want to remind people. Remember last year when the first batch of screenshots came out and people were disappointed? And then that Kevin Durant screenshot came out with improved lighting and ever screenshot after looked miles better than the first batch. Anyone think that's a possibility this year? Like this is just an early build and perhaps they are still working on improving the overall visuals? Just a thought. -
Re: NBA 2K17 Screenshot - Jimmy Butler
But doesn't that sort of prove that there marketing is working? I mean look at the comments here. People are like rabid dogs over just a screenshot. I'm sure they would prefer people to be praising the pictures but we are still talking about their game. More than all the other sports games that have gameplay videos and trailers releasing.
And it's not like they are going to lose sales just because of these screenshots. That will come down to footage and what has or has not been added to the game. If the trailer drops and it looks terrible or if news drops and little has been updated then people will consider not releasing the game. Something would have to happen that make this game an inferior product to last year for people to not buy the game. And even then, with the fan base this game has and the lack of direct competition, I don't see how 2k can do anything market wise to really hurt their product.
And in terms of trailers I don't think I have ever seen a 2k trailer be poorly received. There might be some complaints once analysis kicks in but typically the initial response for trailers is very positive and hype inducing.
People just want to know about the game. They dont give 10 craps about Ronnie 2k at all.
..and the trailers started here with MC, and he made the ones you've been seeing over the years, he just happens to be a 2k employee now, so of course people will like it
Im sorry man, but what you're considering marketing is anything but that.
Right now they arent saying anything, and dropping stills which don't look THAT great anyway.
We got more real news from Simballer when he dropped the piece on MyLeague.
That's more like actual marketing people can get behind and understand whats going on, not this trash.Comment

That would be typical rationale that hype generates sales, but it's all speculation. Marketing types like to play up their role, but ultimately it comes down to the product. I work in R&D and the things I develop work better or they don't. No matter what the hot chick in marketing does changes that. And if it's the same or close to the competitor; its up to the marketing people to not screw it up. Usually they neither hurt nor help. They're just a necessary evil.

Re: NBA 2K17 Screenshot - Jimmy Butler
I just did a quick little trimming in Photoshop (didn't put too much effort as you can see).
Maybe I overdid it a little bit, but looking at real Butler pictures, the issue here I think it is not so much the waist line. It's the tight clothes. Jerseys and shorts need to be baggy, Butler's body type doesn't have any fat, clothes should be hanging.Attached FilesComment

Hmmm yeah I see what you mean around the neck and shoulders for sure.
Maybe somewhere in between around the mid section.....
The tight fit on wide Butler just looks funny to me.Comment
