Re: NBA 2K17 Early Copy Thread

    2K always fibbing to us.

Puff their chests about arena authenticity, yet crowd reactions are still bad, or the same. Not to mention actual COURTS are the wrong colors/shade (mainly Bucks).

Last year it was body scanning.

Nets sound and look nice. Buzzer are different in different arenas but that was in before too, right?

That trailer may create some future backlash. I appreciate them traveling and all but I can see some people under the impression it would be vastly different this year. I think it's the first step to audio presentation improving... That's all.

EDIT: I think I need a day one patch too. Hair looks like last year for now. Hopefully new plays with the patch as well.

The new timeout screen is incredibly cumbersome for the people into changing POE, matchup, subs ect. Defensive settings are more effective but need real testing online

I appreciate them putting in work too.

However why even release the trailer if the only thing you changed were buzzers and nets?

I won't even get into how some of that still sounds the same too in the trailer.

I guess my expectations were for them to at least try to compete with this

See how they recorded in 7.1 and not just slapped some reverb on top of already old and fake sounds and tell us it's authentic?

I hate that drum beat in the beginning of the trailer because(its in game) it needs to be done away with. That's not played in any NBA arena at any time.

Anyway, Thanks man... complete disappointment that 16,000 miles went to balls and nets only.....that's just odd.

On top of that they said they got 200 hours of audio while EA only got 35 hours. Makes zero sense.

I won't be bothering 2k about this anymore.

16,000 miles to record ball bounces and net swishes. Saying it out loud sounds ridiculous. I mean it's good but come on....

I gotta believe that they did actually record crowd noise and just didn't have time to implement it due to shorter development cycle.

I'm going to wait until I play the game before judging the sound. I will say the prelude was a mix. The crowd reacts correctly which is a good thing but the 2k team is still using chants from College Hoops 2k which is a shame.

Then what was the trailer for again?

People thought I was over -reacting when I made that thread, but i've heard from several people now the exact same thing.

I'll give my thoughts when i get the game then I'm outta here

I believe if there was something new we'd have heard it by now.

Couple that with plenty of people not connected to each other saying the same thing...

This is not an area where benefit of the doubt comes in.

The crowd chants in the prelude were weird, too.

During a game, the crowd is chanting loudly, then just like that, they all stop on the drop of a dime. Complete silence. Sounded very unnatural.

I wasnt expecting anything significantly new though. Half of the content in the trailer is old content. I'm expecting that the crowd reaction works.

If it does, thats a win for me. I was playing 2k16 yesterday and I dont have a major issue with how the crowd sounds. Could they be better? Yeah but my issue is with the bugs.

If the bugs are gone, its an improvement.

Thats because those are the same chants from College Hoops 2k. Same thing they did last year.

Anyway, lets get this thread back on subject since its about early copies not sound.

Plenty of new adjustments in timeouts. You can focus on a certain player for defense. Run off line, force jumper, force drive, nothing inside, boxes and elbows, make him work, stay home, play physical, make him score and a few more options.

If implemented correctly, the tools are there to have your own defensive schemes.

Confusing to use though because even though I have ACE off my adjustments seem to revert to auto. Also, it's sporadic as to what you can adjust during gameplay for POE's. Maybe I'm just using it wrong..

Currently getting spanked by raptors vs Spurs on superstar. 66-51.

So many new adjustments i hope that DaCZar does a blog. Elborate on everything and teach us with quick snippets and I think we can have a lot of control as to how your CPU plays off ball and your philosophy on defense.

Yeah, this has definitely been a "funny" year in regards to info and the timing of certain info as well.

Nobody is getting early copies right tnow man. Nothing else to do but have the guys that did answer questions.

Either way it needs more than bug fixes to follow claims of new in advertisement.

Anyway someone will have a copy by Wednesday I'm sure but it won't be worth the extra money at that point
