Re: NBA 2K17 The Prelude is out for New Zealand accounts on PSN
I know I'm not Vni but I was sliding a bit on defense but Im hoping that's only because of the defensive assist... I did find it easier to hold my man all 94 feet this time around. But sometimes it felt as though I couldn't contest shots properly or my player would jump where I wouldn't want him to go... idk if that was just me.
Just as long it's more responsive and very little sliding. I'm good to go....I'm hoping for a midnight release...Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 The Prelude is out for New Zealand accounts on PSN
Wait a minute, I have a question regarding the sluggish'ness of the defense. If you use a GOOD perimeter defender, they are fluid, but a bad outside defender like a big man is going to be sluggish.
For example, Kawhi Leonard isn't sluggish at all.
Maybe I'm confused about what people are talking about defense being sluggish. Bad defenders SHOULD be sluggish and easy to beat. This is how it was last year.Comment

Played through the college games and won the championship...and played the bonus Team USA game
I think I played alright...highest grade was an A- and other times it was an average of a B...finished with a lottery pick ratingPSN: PanicshadeLWK

Once that's all done can keep playing a scrimmage? Or is that it and you have to wait for the full game?Comment

But really my biggest gripe is thoses overhead skip passes. They are awful. They ruin the flow and they trigger very often when you go for the button passing (not directional passing). The logic behind that needs work.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 The Prelude is out for New Zealand accounts on PSN
it goes to the draft night and the commisioner says "With the #1 Pick the Philidelphia 76ers select..." and it cuts off and goes to the pre-order screen (after that is when it unlocks the Team USA game you can play)PSN: PanicshadeLWK

Re: NBA 2K17 The Prelude is out for New Zealand accounts on PSN
Pros :
Audio, sound fx, athmosphere of theses college games were really good. Doesn't sound as deep as a live 10 but still really good.
Ball/rim interaction look and sound a lot more realistic. You feel the weight of the ball bouncing on the rim. You get some new and really good looking half in and out ball animations that looks great.
Seemless transitions between moving and shooting. It's very fluid.
Responsiveness/input lag and player movement a major improvement from 16 on both ends. The whole thing just looks a lot more fluid and lifelike.
Loving the timing on hook shots and layups. You can really hang in the air with the ball and release when you decide. You feel a lot more in control instead of just watching the animation playout.
Difficulty is definately very low but you can really create shots in small spaces and the pullups seem pretty reliable. That brings back that 2K11 vibe.
While defending the P'n'R you canno't cheat as much as you could before, the AI will not take the screen and attack/or shoot the other side if you do. Pretty cool and human like.
Cons :
The overhead skip passes are awfully slow. Need to speed em up or ditch em. I also dislike that they still have thoses instances where a random pass triggers when you wanted something else. They really need to remove that thing. If you press the bounce pass button it has to be a bounce pass 100% of the time.
The skinny, muscle less arms, ill looking bodytypes are just bad. I'am sorry 2K but with the exception of Ingram and probably a few others nobody looks like that.
Still some passes that go through bodies.
There is a lot more of pros and cons most likely (you can't figure out the whole game in one hour of play) but that's on the top of my head. Overall I'am sold on the game. Feels very different in a good way and as barebones as it was (no plays, no idea who you're playing with etc) it was pretty fun. The two biggest things that makes a huge difference for me is responsiveness and how the game sounds.
Good read thank you very much.
One of your cons is actually pro for me that is skinny players bcs the proportions fit better on court and spacing gets better to my understanding.
What can you say about lead passes?
Also how improved is auto dedense recovery and how much the contest shot is improved ?

I saw a lot of slow overhead passes in the leaked footage I saw as well. They need to be reworked completely. It looks like the chest passes etc. have been sped up. They need to limit the overhead passes.

Feels responsive. You still control a human being so I woudn't like it to be to sharp either. The only thing that didn't feel responsive is the steal when you try to go for a pass. Seemed very slow and delayed but I made a shot creater PG so my defensive stats must be very low.

I like the dribbling but some of the things you could do last year you can't do this year. For example you can't go between the leg and back in rapid succession.https://vimeo.com/181983934https://vimeo.com/181984276
