    The game isn't out yet and we've got a term being thrown around for players like Durant;

    "The starving children"

Haha hilarious!! Oh it's gonna be a looooong year..... and 2K will be under the microscope when the first 2K18 footage comes out (1 day prior to release).

It's already bad enough for me with the whole Bucks court/unis being so bad. But this may be too much. Totally kills the immersion for me.

Last year the bodies weren't perfect by no means, but they were light years better than this year. No excuses.

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.

I will actually be skipping NBA2k17 this year. Skinny player model is part of the reason why (but not the ultimate reason why) despite the fantastic blogs recently released.

It would be nice for a developing team member to address this graphical "update" the same as they did with that "Passing needs work" thread ( http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-possible.html )

Isn't it more work to do modifications rather than keep what is working. Whatever time and effort spent on making skinny body types frail could have been spent on other areas. Unfortunately, the skinny player models have received a downgrade. Steph Curry 2k16 had a perfectly fine body type. I didn't hear one concern about Steph Curry's 2k16 body type.

2k introduced body scans for NBA2k16 ( http://attackofthefanboy.com/news/nb...ic-experience/ ). 2k16 Curry's body looks like it has been scanned. Scanning a person's body seems to be the easiest way to accurately represent the player. I doubt 2k17 Curry was scan. I find it more than likely the artist chose to modify Curry's scanned body from 2k16. What's more real than a scan though? The majority of one's body weight is relegated to the torso, hips and legs.

The only immediate graphic change to NBA2k16 player model was to shrink the shoulder width, and that would have made a significant improvement. A person's arm is only approximately 4% of the person's body weight while the trunk (chest, back and abdomen) takes on approximately 51% of the person's body weight.

Giving the green light to shrink the arm girth while maintaining the same shoulder and torso width was unfortunately not the appropriate decision in my opinion.

According to the book Human Body Dynamics: Classical Mechanics and Human Movement by Aydin Tozeren, the average percentage of weight for each body part is as follows:

        • Trunk (Chest, back and abdomen) – 50.80%
        • Thigh – 9.88%
        • Head – 7.30%
        • Lower leg – 4.65%
        • Upper arm – 2.7%
        • Forearm – 1.60%
        • Foot – 1.45%
        • Hand – 0.66%
2k already had an appropriate skinny player model body type with Shaun Livingston. Shaun is lanky thin. 2k could simply have used Livingston's skinny model as the prototype for skinny players.

        NBA 2k17 skinny player body

        NBA 2k17 skinny player body

        NBA 2k16 skinny body type

Can someone tell me what was wrong with Giannis and Steph Curry's body in NBA2k16? If I was an outsider knowing nothing about video game basketball, I'd say NBA2k17's skinny model was the "before" picture and NBA 2k16's skinny model was the "after" picture.

A lot of the player models are pretty bad this year with the exception of some ( Melo, DeAndre Jordan, Draymond Green, Brandon Ingram, etc..) & it definitely takes away from the game. The players models look too generic & lack detail. No muscle definition whatsoever smh. Most NBA players are athletic with lean muscle, yet in 2K they look flabby & have oversized traps. Player models have definitely regressed which is extremely unfortunate. What's even worse is they changed players models that didn't need to be changed (Steph Curry's model was perfect last year). They need to put the same amount of detail that they put into the faces into the player models. For a game as deep as 2K, it baffles me how the art department seems to be lacking. Player models need a complete overhaul next year & should be top priority!

All they had to do for Giannis body last year was make his legs a tad skinnier maybe. Or maybe just longer. Those loooong baggy shorts don't help either.

Anyways, how do we get this thread to the guys who need to see it. I guess they probably do see it when they come here, but we really have to be heard.

And the Bucks court in those vids. The Buuuucks coouurt....

Yeah say what you want about the 2K16 models, but my personal preference was those over 17s from what I've seen.

                    They at least looked like human athletes (in my eye). The skinny body types in 17 really looks scary strange to me. When I see them, my mind darts in this direction. Can't help it haha;

Am I the only one that think its kind of funny everybody is complaining about skinny players?everybody on these forums was begging for smaller players. guess what? They gave it to you..this should be a lesson learned for op users for complaining so much.

Since this is another thread including the same issue, I'll quote what I posted in the correction thread. Which btw in my opinion, is a good thing as the more attention it gets, the more likely it's addressed. I don't think it needs to take over every thread, but if it's the subject of the thread, it can simply be avoided if you find it annoying.

But the more people are educated about the current system, the better.

For anyone who wants to understand the body type issue in general with 2K, read this..

                            https://m.reddit.com/r/NBA2k/comment...scans_exposed/

The most glaring issue this year is that every single player who had body type 3 last year (which isn't too bad looking) now has body type 7. The "High School" body type, or as I call it, the Kerri Walsh Jennings body type. This includes the players the OP listed:

                            -Giannis Antetekounmpo
                            -Seth Curry
                            -Dennis Schroder
                            -Ian Clark

                            As well as

                            -Kevin Durant
                            -Steph Curry
                            -Mike Dunleavy Jr
                            -Brandon Jennings
                            -Andrew Wiggins
                            -Rudy Gobert
                            -Jeremy Lin
                            -Evan Fournier
                            -Chris Bosh
                            -Terrence Ross

And many others including rookie Brandon Ingram.

Zach LaVine of all people does not have this body type because he has bodytype 1, and therefor was not part of the mass copy and paste of body type 3 to 7.

This is a major eye sore as no NBA player, EVEN Ingram, is this skinny. Hence, why it was the High School body type last year.

*EDIT* Meant to say MAYBE Ingram lol

It is kind of depressing being that being a licensed game and having access and the resources to scan things. hope the same way they were able to do shoes this year get done to body types next year with added muscle tones along with proper lighting on the jerseys. i know they are on the players, bt they don't look like they belong in the same world because the game has all this amazing lighting in and the jerseys and warm-ups is like... meh. i know it's not a big deal, yet it would add to the immersion of the game just like how the crowd, commentating, and animations has. i think the animations get/look clunky because it seems that there are not a lot of transition animations. by transition i mean have you ever been playing a game of 2k and watched the awkwardness of a player backing up with the ball (where they look like they're moving forward, but going backwards) (mo cap a point guard resetting the offense)? or that weird half a suicide sprint thing players do after making a basket? or the floaty jog up court? I could go on and on,
but i'm gonna let the team do what they do and hope it turns out great for us fans.

i wouldnt say they tanked tho. 2k didnt do a 76ers 2016 season for 2k17.

I'm betting there are just too few people in the company willing to stand up and say "this looks bad" especially when there's no competition. Why rock the boat when you know sales will be through the roof regardless?
