I updated a while back about my first few games with the Nets. Quick recap:
I traded everyone that didn't really fit my play style or I just didn't care for. The roster we have now is only about 50/50 original Nets from start of season. 22 games into my 29 game season we are 16-6 (I think season 2 I'm probably up the difficulty of played games from All Star to Superstar. Even though a fair share of games we have won have been very close and we could easily be 10-12 if not for a few possessions I still feel like it shouldn't be this easy to take the worst team and get 75% win pct with them.) 6 min quarters adjusted to sim stats of 12 mins.

Anyway my starting 5 is

Lin (averaging 9 ppg 9 apg)
Crabbe (15 ppg)
Bogdanovic (12 ppg 4 rpg)
Jamychal Green (18 ppg 9 rpg)
Love (26 ppg 10 rpg)

Notable Bench players

Kilpatrick (16 ppg)
Verajao (6 ppg 8 rpg 2 bpg)
N. Collison (9 ppg 4 rpg)
Levert (10 ppg)
Hollis-Jefferson (Lock down D, 6ppg 4rpg)
Vasquez (10 ppg 4 apg)

Overall I've been really surprised with the success I've had with Kilpatrick and Jamychal Green. Green or Love will probably win most improved.

Some notes:

Golden State is ridiculous. I'm fairly certain they shot over 75% against us and even though that was probably the best offensive game I've played in 2k we still got trashed. The final score was 97-86 in 6 min quarters. That's completely crazy I think in my history of playing 2k the most I've had scored against me by a CPU was like upper 70s or low 80s.

Somehow we absolutely destroyed the Cavs it was never even close.

Portland is 23-0 and most of their games don't seem to be close. McCollum and Lillard are the frontrunners for MVP, they've become a better version of Curry/Klay somehow...

Overall, loving this game but have to figure out the difficulty I need to play on more than anything

Honestly, I play hof. It's no more cheese at all, and teams seem to play more correctly. Play good defense and run plays, and you're rewarded.

Is MyLeague/MyGM playable this year with only minor tweaks? I absolutely HATED having to constantly adjust sliders and settings to get a realistic league with finances, trades, signings, injuries, progression, etc.

So I just started a rebuilding franchise with the Nets.

I decided to make some early changes to the team before the season started (29 Game Season; Hall of Fame Difficulty)

I'm on the PS4 and downloaded 'Official 2017 NBA Draft' by NBA2kCreationz.
Josh Jackson (SF from Kansas) , Jayson Tatum (SF from Duke) , & Harry Giles (PF from Duke) are the top 3 picks.

I wanted to be as realistic as possible so I adjusted some of the MyLeague settings including ;

Trade Approval - ON (as the Cpu tends to offer nonsensical trades between each other. I'd like to approve of what I think is fair overall wise and according to the teams needs i.e. are they rebuilding ? do they need to fill a certain void for a championship contender ? etc.)

Player Non-Financial Ambitions Factor - 67 (it's nice to see players who ACTUALLY don't care about winning go for bigger contracts , while players that want to win are willing to take a pay cut.)

Trade Negotiation - 92 ! (Yes!!!! You read that right. 2k's trade logic is completely flawed and usually favors the User. A 92 honestly is the most fair that I've seen trading.)

Contract Negotiation - 68 (In real life, handling contracts isn't easy and I wanted to add more of a challenge , but not to the point where you're forced to give Max contracts to everyone asking. Upping this setting just means they might say no once or twice if you're not in their ball park in terms of contract details)

CPU Re-Signing AggressiveNess - 62 (Once again , just to add more challenge when trying to sign restricted free agents so money doesn't mean everything just because you have it there to spend.)

So I havent actually played a game yet , but I have made some changes to the Nets roster.

First off , Sean Kilpatrick (71ovr SG; min. 1yr)haaaddddd to GO ! I mean yeah he can shoot but an F DEFENSE !!! IS THIS GUY EFFEN SERIOUS ?!?! waived him of his min contract immediately.

Secondly , I brought in Mario Chalmers (74ovr PG/SG; 1yr $1.62m) from free agency. Replaces Trevor Booker (73ovr PF; 2 yr $18.37m) as a sixth man off the bench.

Thirdly , I added JJ Hickson (74ovr C; $1.42m) to add some much needed depth and rebounding. I mean , c'mon , I wanna lose not get blown out lol. Hickson replaces Justin Hamilton (70ovr C; 2yr $6m)

And to clear up even more space on the roster and cap (although we won't be needing the money this season lol) by trading Chris McCollough (69 PF; 1yr+1TO $1.19m) for Sacha Vujacic (69 SG; 1yr min.).

I , then , released Vujacic to sign what would be a starter to replace my rookie Caris Levert (71ovr; 2yr $3.19m), the one and only ear blower , Lance Stephenson (74ovr; 1yr+1TO $2.49).

My Lineup consists of

I haven't played my first game but I will be sure to update my progress along the way. I'm anxious to start this rebuild , especially because I've never used the Nets before. Wish me luck!

Minor tweaks? I would say no, but that depends on how picky you are. Contracts are pretty awful atm (hopeful they can get adjusted with a patch) and trades/roster logic is pretty much how it's always been.

A lot of babysitting is required unless you're pretty lax with what you're okay with.

So I'm waiting until the beginning of the season to begin my real MyLeague but I'm playing around until then. So with the Chris Bosh news I decided to make him a free agent and I did a custom league adding real Madrid and making them the Seattle Supersonics w/ Ray Allen. Bosh signed with the Sonics I think they could be a pretty nice team with Bosh at the 5. I'm gonna make sure when I start at the beginning of the season that I do this move unless Bosh signs somewhere forreal

Small update, but our first three games were all blow out. I also picked up Skal Labissiere again, and a new guy, 5'8 PG Kay Felder, as i see a potential 6th man / future PG in him. Raw talent.

Ive just had a quick look at simmed stats through 5 games of ML, and the only thing that jumps out at me is the very high 3P% of CPU teams.

I have 8-9 times above 40% from 3. Gameplay sliders don't effect these so I dont think there is a fix.

I'm having a rather rough go of it in my MyLeague with Boston. I just passed Christmas and I'm 14-16, 9th in the East. I haven't had too much bad luck with injuries either. IT4 was injured for about a week at the beginning of the season, but only missed three games. Both Bradley and Brown were hurt around the same time, but were able to play through their injuries.

Luckily after the first 2-4 teams the next ten teams are so are fairly close to .500 so if I an put a nice winning streak together, then I could still fight for a home series in the playoffs. If I don't get it together, then I could miss the playoffs entirely. We're almost at the midway point of the season, so no better time to turn it around that now.

Do you play every game?

I only play 82 game seasons and my method of playong is as follows: I play 21 full games each season. The 21 games are 14 games against the other Eastern conference teams, 5 games against a division of the Western conference (alternating each season) and 2 random games of my choosing.

I play the first 5 games of the season (unless I play the same team twice in my first 5 games, then I will skip one of those games), but that counts towards my 21 games. Also, for my simmed games I use Simcast and intervene as I see fit.

Started a new MyGM, hoping to go deep this time. This one I'm playing as my Indiana Pacers. Immediately traded their #20 pick in the 2016 draft to the Hawks and did a somewhat replication of the Teague-Hill-Pick trade involving the jazz as well. So no draft pick for me first round. 2nd round I picked up Skal Labissiere again.


I traded Monta Ellis for two soda cans and a bag of chips (just kidding, a second rounder from the mavs and a 1st rounder in 2020) and upgraded that position by nabbing JR smith in FA. I also nabbed AL Jefferson to match the real life squad. Signed Kent Bazemore for the bench, Shabazz Muhammad, && I'm ready for the season.

This time I'll be player locking as my favorite. Paul George. I'll update tomorrow with the first game of the season and some GM stuff that comes up in the first week (media questions, whiny players, etc)

Mine is horrible.. The stats just don't add up...
One of my players is averaging 6 steals per game.
Plus I can't use the coaching strategy when I sim a game

After only 2 years every team has 5 or more players whose 3 point shot is A/A+
That coupled with the high amount of steals just kills it for me

A group of us figured out how to solve that problem. The first post covers the solution, the rest explains our findings more in-depth, but the bottom line is that it's in-season training that does it and the fix is rather painless.
